Hi!
I am a developer building a standalone automation service using the Trados Public API. I need to set up a Service User for OAuth2 Client Credentials authentication, but I cannot locate the 'Service Users' management area in my current dashboard.

Can you please:
Point me to the exact location of Service User management for my tenant?
Confirm if my current subscription tier supports Public API access and the creation of Service Users?
Verify if OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is enabled for my account's file-type configurations so I can analyze JPG/PNG files?

Data bridge does not support "contains" in filter

How to receive all fields of multiple termbase entries without exceeding URL length limit

I would like to read several termbase entries through the LC rest API, and I would like to query all fields of them.

According to the docu, optional fields are not returned by default, so I have to specify all required fields in the fields parameter. This alone is already very long, ~ 3300 characters:

then I already get an error like 414 (Request-URI Too Long) ~ the complete GET query is 4275 characters long.

Is there a trick maybe reduce the length? It seems to be kind of waste to use 3300 characters just to express that I would get everything, and having to increase the API calls just because too few space remains for the IDs.

E.g. wildcards would be perfect to use, but AFAIK they are not supported.

How to uplad Perfect Match files to the cloud?

We recently started using the Trados Cloud platform. I am trying to upload the Perfect Match files (.sdlxliff) via the REST API. Creating a project and uploading the files (via API) works, but Perfect Match is then skipped in the workflow for the files.

Unfortunately, the API reference does not provide quite as much information as it should for the whole thing to work.

I upload the files using the “Add Source File” endpoint: api.eu.cloud.trados.com/.../v1/projects/{projectId}/source-files

The question is, what exactly should the properties look like? Currently, they look like this:

Are role and type correct?

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be enough.
Do I now have to create a “PerfectMatch Mapping” using the API? If so, how do I do that for the .sdlxliff files? By default the PerfectMatch Mapping want to have "matchingProjects" but we don't have these yet. We want to use the older sdlxliff files.

How to retrieve a project's current and future tasks

Hi,
I'm using the API to create a connection between our internal TMS and Trados Team. One of the things I want to do is retrieve the translators and reviewers assigned to a project. I'm trying to do this with the List Project's Tasks endpoint. The information this endpoint provides only seems to include details of the current task.

So if the project's workflow has a translator and a reviewer assigned to the Translation and Linguistic Review stage respectively and the project is at the Translation stage, the details provided by the endpoint do include the assigned translator but not the assigned reviewer. Is there a way to retrieve both? I have tried to specify the field project.workflow.taskConfigurations but that information doesn't get included.

Clarification on API Status Messages for Canceled vs Error Files

Hi team,

The developer team for our connected application (Translation Request Tool/TRT) have recommended I reach out in relation to this.

We’ve identified an issue related to the Trados API behavior: currently, the same generic “error” message is sent to TRT both when a file is genuinely in error (and potentially fixable) and when it has been canceled. Since the API does not provide a distinct “canceled” status, this is causing mismatched statuses and even target retrieval failures in TRT.
Would it be possible for the API logic to differentiate these two scenarios by sending separate messages for:
• Canceled files
• Files in error

This distinction would help us handle these cases more effectively.

Trados-TRT Communication: Issue with Empty Input Node

Whenever a project fails due to "Generate Offline Package", our connected application, TRT, is not receiving the expected attributes from Trados. Please see attachment for reference. As you can see, there is no information on source file in the API message. Here's a comparison with what we receive for other system error types, like error in Translation Memory Update. Trados Team project creation fail using API

We have tested with a template and without a template, it doesn't change anything.

We tried changing the language code to upper case and lower case, but neither works.

Trados Enterprise API does not return project template settings

Dear community,

According to this page: eu.cloud.trados.com/.../9990739f1e174-list-project-templates , I would understand that it is possible to retrieve the settings of each project template.

However, when I pass "settings" as value to the query parameter "fields" (see attached postman screenshot), I don't get any settings in the response.

Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong here?

Error handling for BCM format is not working

In our connector we have Automatic Task which makes machine translation and adds new file version to the target file.

It worked fine last week, but now we get error:

Team default project settings

Hi,

I'm trying to limit the number of templates used for project creation in Trados Team. Currently I have a generic template defined with various custom project settings but without a translation engine or workflow. This allows me to create customer-specific templates by copying the generic template and adding a specific translation engine and workflow, thus retaining the custom project settings in any new template. If there's no template defined for a customer, the project manager can select the generic template and specify a translation engine and workflow during the project creation process in Team, thereby also retaining the custom project settings.

The problem with this approach is that the generic template is marked as 'invalid' meaning that it cannot be used to create a project via the API or the Studio project upload feature. So a cloud project created with the API or Trados Studio will not use my custom project settings but Team’s default settings.

I am thinking that the default project settings Team uses must be defined somewhere. Is it possible to change the Team project defaults so that they will be automatically used in newly created templates and projects created without using a template? Or, alternatively, is there a way to change project settings through the API while or after creating a cloud project?

Translation timeout for BCM format

Allow source editing when creating project through the API

When creating a Trados project from the API I cannot activate the options “Allow source editing” and “Enable merging segments across paragraphs”.

Is there a way to configure these options or to activate them through the default template that is used when creating a project from the API ?

Package creation for external providers

One of our joint customers has asked how to automatically or manually create packages for external providers, similar to how they do in WorldServer. We haven’t found any way to generate packages using the public API.

Do you have any alternatives to suggest such as generating XLIFF files or another method to support this workflow?

This is a high-priority issue for tis customer, so a quick response would be greatly appreciated.

Management of source document versions

We’re now starting another phase of our integration and I have a question regarding this important aspect:

Management of source document versions
We’d like to clarify the best approach for managing source document versions via the public API.

Use case:
As a requester, I upload a new version of a source document through the our own client portal. This new version should be properly added in Trados Cloud.

We reviewed the public API endpoint /tasks/{taskId}/source-files/{sourceFileId}/versions, but it requires a taskId, which doesn’t suit our case.
Do you have any alternative method or recommended entry point in the API to handle this use case?

Trados Cloud API - Machine Translation - target segments empty

Hello,

Machine Translation output is not added in the target language segments using Trados Cloud API.

The project is created with success, no error. The machine translation step runs. But when we open the Project online, the machine translation output is not inserted in the target language segments.The target segments stay empty (or source is copied into the target).

The translation engine (DeepL) is well defined in the template and the machine translation step in the workflow too.

Also, when creating the project online without API, the machine translation outpout is well inserted in the target segment.

Could you please help us here?

“Source File Not Linked to Task” When Adding New File Version

We are currently working on an integration using the Trados Cloud Public API and have encountered difficulties while attempting to add a new version to an existing source file using the corresponding endpoint (Trados Cloud Platform API Documentation).

Summary of Attempts

We have thoroughly reviewed the documentation and tested the endpoint in multiple scenarios. Some API responses were clear and helped us correct our requests. For instance:

Despite these corrections, we are now facing errors that we haven't been able to resolve. The most frequent blocking issue is the following:

We confirmed that the sourceFileId we are sending belongs to the project associated with the task. However, the API still rejects it.

As a test, we also tried using a target file ID, which resulted in:

Finally, we could not find any option in the Trados Cloud web interface to manually add a new version to an existing source file, which makes it more difficult to validate the behavior of this endpoint.

Questions:

What are the exact conditions for a source file to be considered "linked" to a task?
Are there specific criteria or project/task configurations that must be met for the sourceFileId to be accepted?
Is it possible to identify which source file ID is expected by the task through any other API endpoint?
1. If so, what would be the recommended way to fetch this information?
Is the functionality of adding a new version to a source file available through the Trados Cloud web interface? (We were unable to locate any option that performs this action manually)

Your insights would be greatly appreciated as we are keen to move forward.
