Is MultiTerm API thread safe?

Dear all,

currently, I'm developing a commandline application for importing data into a MultiTerm server database.
Unfortunately, I'm facing issues (System.ArgumentException) in that application. I'm trying to run the ".ProcessImport(MultiTermIX.MtTaskType.mtScript)" in a new thread to be able to stop the import process, if it takes much longer than normal.
The application is developed in Visual Basic.
My question therefore is, if the API from MultiTerm is thread safe and if it is possible to outsource the import process to a new, independent process/thread.

How to verify if database import or export by API has been successful

Dear all,

according to the documentation here (developers.rws.com/.../Sdl.MultiTerm.TMO.Interop.ImportDefinition.ProcessImport.html, there's no return value from the ProcessImport method.
Unfortunately, it's not clear to me, how to verify, if an import or export has been successful by using the API.
How is it designed by RWS to be able to verify, if an import or an export has been successful?

We're using MultiTerm 2024 SR1 - 18.1.2.3594 and GroupShare-/MultiTerm-Server "GS: 15.2.0.1904 - GS 2020 SR2"

Custom Plugin Development for MultiTerm

Hello,

Is it possible to develop a custom plugin for MultiTerm that integrates with it in a similar way to how plugins work in Trados Studio? So far, I’ve only come across standalone applications. We would like to add a custom action triggered when users add or edit entries in MultiTerm.

Customizing Termbase Search

Hello,

We are using code like the following to search a termbase:

Termbase oTb = oTbs["Termbase name"];
TermbaseSearch search = oTb.Search;
search.Direction = Sdl.MultiTerm.TMO.Interop.MtSearchDirection.mtSearchDown;
search.MaximumHits = 10;
search.FuzzySearch = true;
search.SearchExpression = "search term";
search.SourceIndex = "English";
HitTerms oHits = search.Execute();

Is it possible to customize the search further? Specifically, we would like to lemmatize the terms in the termbase before performing the search.

We are using Trados Studio 2024.

Issue when batch-creating multiple SDLTBs programmatically with MultiTerm 2021 SR2 (16.2.1.1044) API: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A0E7D)

Dear MultiTerm Developers

We have written a converter which transforms multilingual MFT XML file into several SDLTB containing only one language pair from the XML. In most instances it will run smothly but sometimes the program runs in an error as you can see below (log file entries).

It is not foreseeable when the error will occur. It can happen while generating any of the SDLTBs. The program then will not recover from the error and will not generate any SDLTB until it ends. If the program is started again, it begins to create SDLTBs without an error.

My question is if you are familliar with this error type and do you have an advice how to handle it?

I can share more the code if needed.

MultiTerm MTF-XML sample file needed

Hi RWS community,

I am developing an open-source terminology management solution and try to add a MultiTerm MTF-XML export. You can find it here, if you are interested: https://github.com/stefan-jung/org.jung.terminology

I am trying to validate the XML output with the official RWS MTF-XML schema, which can be found here: https://developers.rws.com/multiterm-api-docs/apiconcepts/MTF/xsd_schema.html am also an RWS customer

Unfortunately the structure of the XML schema and the documentation of the elements and attributes is ... not very intuitive/comprehensive.

It would help me, if someone could send me an MultiTerm MTF-XML export for testing. Maybe you can replace all sensitive textual content with dummy text. This is not important for me. I really would just like to understand the structure better, e.g. how definitions are represented, and so forth.

Interop COM not working with MultiTerm 2021 and 2022 - HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)

When trying to use the Interop COM interface and create an Application instance, I always get the following error message (as if there is no MultiTerm installed on the system):

The COM class factory for the component with CLSID {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} could not be retrieved due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (exception of HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
