Idea Delivered Partially

Setting to "delivered partially" based on comment but happy to continue conversation here as the solution might be different from what some of our users expect.

Confirm segments after replacing option in Find and Replace box

This should be a priority update for the next version. It's annyoing having to backtrack in the document to manually confirm each segment after having replaced a word of phrase. This would help many translators save time and be more efficient.

  • People, be careful. If all segments changed turns back to the state they were before the change, this idea is ok. But if for instance I am in Review mode and make a change with "Replace all", the state of all changed segments can not be confirmed as "reviewed", they must continue as "translated", considering that I have not yet reviewed the whole file. If they all change to "reviewed" I will not be able to know which one had its status changed by this feature and which one was confirmed by me.

So for now, if you do not want to confirm all the changed segments one by one, and do not want to use the solution from Daniel Brockmann, here is another tip: before you make the changes, you simply filter the segments with the word/text you want to change, then execute the function search/replace all; after that you highlight all visible segments and confirm them all at once.

  • One potential solution here is to open the file in Review mode. In Review mode, you can batch-update segment status to set all (draft or unapproved) segments to approved. The way this works is that when closing a file in review mode, you will get a prompt if you would like to set all unapproved segments to approved. This then confirms them in batch mode and changes the segment status to approved.

  • Highly supported!! ... And having such a central tool as the the search & replace function not somewhere hidden in the top right corner and sometimes disappearing altogether!!
