Having EML as a file type by itself

Happy New Year to all of you,

I would love to see a standalone EML file type for email format, because sometimes clients request to translate certain emails, so instead of having to create a text-based file type for that, it would be great to have this format out of the box.

  • Hi Paul,

Great questions. Let me share my two cents worth on them:

    1. I believe a separate file type would be the best shot here. I do not think the CAD filter would be good enough here.

    2. The target file can be another EML file keeping all the non translatables (code) as they are and just translating the body text of the email message.

    3. Handling the attachments can be an option for the use to choose if he/she wants to process the attached files.

I think this idea is really great because many times clients ask to translate Email body content, especially courts and the like because those are used as exhibits in legal claims.

    Keep me posted please.

  • A few questions on this:

    • dealing with non-translatable text within the email. Would the Community Advanced Display Filter be the best solution for this part?
    • what format should the target file be?
      - maybe a plain text file or a Word file?
      - maybe another eml?
    • should we look at handling an attachment from an emall?

What are your thoughts, or anybody elses thoughts, around this?
