Idea Delivered

It would be very helpful to have an option for translating Visio files in Studio.

This option did exist some time ago and we used it extensively but then SDL, quite unfortunately, removed it. For corporate server-based users like us, buying extra programs in AppStore is not a very good idea, nor is it appreciated by our management, given the price of SDL software and the annual fee we pay SDL for technical support.

Whenever we have Visio files now, it is a complete nightmare since we need to type in manually all the things we have in our termbases and in TM.

Please add Visio back!

Parents
  • It was MS who removed it, not SDL. Starting from 2013 version, MS Office does not support its 'old' vdx format. Formerly, you could create or download a file from Internet for free (VisioFilter.sdlftsettings from here for example: translation-blog.com/ ) that allowed you to work with *.vdx by re-saving your Visio.vsd file as Visio.vdx to translate it. From 2013, vdx is no longer available. And accordingly you cannot re-save a vsd(x) file as vdx any longer.

The only way is to use older versions of Visio for conversion.
