Hi all,
The SDL Publication Manager does a number of "silent checkouts" in the normal course of working on a publication (editing a map, for example, leads to the map being checked out without an notice given to the user). When performing a action like generating output, ti requires that all of the checked out resources be checked in, which frequently leads to an extended series of dialog boxes as the Pub Manager serially asks the user if they want to first check in the resource and then if they want to change its status.
This is problematic for a few reasons, but the worst of them is that the user has to make decisions about checkin in resources one at a time, in complete ignorance of what other decisions wait behind the one they are currently making.
In these situations, users should be presented with an interface that shows them all the resources which will have to be checked in before their action can be completed, at which point they can make an informed decision about whether or not to continue the process.
Thanks,
Jeff.
