Hi Everybody,

I am getting error while creating ADA compliance PDF and this is due to link coming in the subhead component, whereas it is working fine for text components. For example:

<bridgehead><para><para>This is test head having a <?xpp :pdfs;12;www.google.com?>link<?xpp :pdfe;12></para></para></bridgehead>

Can anybody help me to fix it.

Compose error "invalid C_2DB code"

Hello,

There is an error showing after composing a division after importing a text with mark trace code.

May I know what is the meaning of this error? I cannot find any about it from the menu.

Looking for an explanation of image depth.

XPP 9.7, Linux server, running classic format specs not CSS.

The image is not resizing even though we've adjust the depth setting and depth_auto settings. We are still getting imag text overlay which seems to be due to FN tags and rendering of FN text on the page.

Below is an example of changing image depth from 150 to 300...which does allow the text/footnote and footnote text to render. It's not clear in the documentation the interaction of the image depth and depth-auto functions and the interaction with the text/FN. Maybe something with the "priority" for the image or text?

This is an issue as multiple images exist and the default supplied depth is causing image overlay of the text. Below is an example -after- resizing depth. With the default image depth the image completely overlays the text on the page and partially overlays the FN stream area.

I am getting "Irregular table row" warnings when we run PAC checker on ADA compliance PDF.

I have written CSS for ADA tagging to tag the document and everything is working fine except these warnings.

secondary table of contents

Hello,

We have a publication with multiple divisions and a regular table of contents. One of the divisions lists items for the upcoming month(s). We also have a weekly-summary items page (a separate division) that refers to items in the monthly-items division. Our users are requesting to add page numbers to the weekly-summary division referring to the monthly-items division. So, within the publication, the summary division would be like another table of contents for the monthly-items division.

To implement this, it seems like one would create the whole publication, determine the corresponding page numbers, and then go back to insert the page numbers into the summary division. Is there another way to do this?

Outside of XPP, a Java or .NET PDF library could be used to search for the related page numbers and then insert the page numbers in the summary, but that adds a new process after the PDF has been generated. Is it possible to do it with XPP?

PDF marks in pickup stream

Hello and happy Friday!

What I need: a pdf link to a youtube video over top of an image

What I did: created a pickup containing graphic and annotation elements - the annt element holds the xref / pdf link codes.

What happened: It did NOT work. I did set the graphic block priority to -30. I also tried changing the order of the blocks themselves, but it still didn't work.

Curious to know - do pdfmarks not pass through when inside the pickup stream?

XPP version 9.6.2.0

What am I missing?

Can we fix the height of specific row of the table?

I need to fix the height of specific row of the table. I tried to fix the height by using <setgut;...> macro but it is impacting the second row height as well.

Is there any way to fix the height of a specific row?

How to generate continued subhead rows when table breaks across page from cell level

Hi Everybody,

Please help me to generate continued subhead rows when table breaks across page from cell level.

Please see below screenshot where the data of first and second needs to be generated at the beginning of next page in first and second respectively and data of third column will continue to generate as usual.

This is first part from where the table is breaking and now see below the second part of the table where we need to generate the data of first column and second column along with "(continued)" word:

I am using macro <begcont;1> for first and second column but when we compose the division, it is only generating the first column data in the first column and second and third column is blank and the third column data which is a cell breaking is generating in the second row of second page.

Please check and advise.

Issues with copies of “ and ”

Hello. We have updated to XPP 9.7 on a Linux server and notice an odd issue with copying/pasting from one DIV to another.

The entities for double quotes, “ and ”, appear as \Uffffffff when copying text from one DIV and pasting to another DIV. However, if copied within the same DIV, they still render correctly.

As far as we know, our XCS specs are the same. Also note that we are using VcXsrv instead of Exceed for x11.

Does anyone have any idea why ȁ and ” do not survive a copy between DIVs? Note that “ and ” work just fine for these copies between DIVs.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hello. We recently installed XPP 9.7 on two Linux servers. On one server, I am unable to view job tickets. When I try I get this message:

"Cannot access default x2t file"

The other server works fine.

Anyone have an idea of what file I should look for on the server that has this issue?

How to handle morerows in CSS?

I am doing POC on CSS and I am stucked in handling the morerows in table.

I am using XPP 9.6.1.0 version and morerows is not working. I tried to put xpp: before morerows attribute within <entry.....> element but that is also not working.

Can anybody help me out with this issue.

Log files in XPP Path Finder

Can someone help me locate log files in the XPP Pathfinder? Does the XPP Pathfinder have a feature that automatically generates log files, including details of any modifications made to a particular job along with operator details? If not, what is the procedure to obtain the log file?

Source or Version Control and file differences for XPP

Hello folks,

I'm relatively new to XPP. For the XPP setup at my work, we use Exceed (Windows) to access XPP on Linux. I have two questions, and they're sort of interrelated. I was wondering what people use for source/version control for XPP, and is there a way to compare style files? I couldn’t really find anything by searching these forums or Google.

I come from a C# .NET background. A common setup for .NET developers is to use DevOps with Git for source/version control. Among other things, it allows us to compare of two versions of a file and merge differences or apply changes from one to the other. Are such tools available with XPP? Are there any ways/tools to compare two style files (if, pl, ps or macros) and then to apply those differences from local styles to the global ones. Currently I only know to do this via the PathFinder UI by copying tables/rules one by one, and that can be tedious.

Noticed today that with XPP 9.7.0 the Item Format Prestring element is too small to display all the text in that item. Looks like only 3/4 of the text is displayed. Is there a way to expand this?

Get edit trace in Xyperl

Hello,

I am using XPP9.3.1, seeing the menu adding t to </Pb> and get_text() can include the edit trace content through Xyperl.

It shows the error "Wide character in print at (eval 507) line 313" in the composition log.

The captured text with edit trace is like below:

soi;0;51eoi

The menu said the trace codes are look like \xEF\xA3\xAE soi ; # ; # \xEF\xA3\xAD

Do I need to do extra works to display the margin notes with edit trace in the frill by Xyperl?

I am signed up to take the GoToWebinar - XPP EAA & 508 Compliance Webinar on Thursday but before attending, I want to know if any XPP users are already creating fully automated PDFs that are accessible and contain semi-complex tables and figures. We publish a lot of landscape tables.

We are running 9.6.3.0 but have plans to upgrade to the latest version in April.

Is there any workaround or method to overcome or increase the 64k character limit when 'printing' back to XPP?

I'm using Perl to gather data from composed pages and append to a file.

At the </root> tag, I'm calling a Perl routine that reads, deduplicates, sorts etc the gathered data in the file, format PDF macros around the data, calculating the 'count' field to enable correct bookmark nesting based on the various levels of headings etc. The PDF bookmark macros are written out to a new file. This file is then 'printed' back to XPP.

This works flawlessly as long as the resulting processed file <= 64k. Anything larger causes XPP compose to die.

I've also tried printing each processed bookmark to XPP but the result is the same: if the total amount of data printed back to XPP > 64k, whether its in individual PDF book macros or a whole file of them, it dies.

It is my understanding that the 64k composition stack limit is long-standing and I've never found a way around it.

But ... if anyone else has seen this limitation and found a workaround/fix, I'd love to hear about it?

query about XPP 9.7 upgrade and WebServices

We have just upgraded to 9.7 and are experiencing some problems with out WebServices implementation.

As part of the 9.7 upgrade some changes to Perl have been listed in the Release Notes.
a. the location of Perl will be moved to a new location
b. Perl will be upgraded to v5.38

We are getting messages from WebServices that seem to indicate that the Perl location move is a problem.

For example, on our Web Server we run a program that has this callout to the WebServices API:

Progress(">Running BuildList command on XPP server");
$XPPDoc->userCommand($doc,'BuildList2.pl'," ws apply ftp-robot");

Note - we just pass the Perl program name of BuildList2.pl we do not name the program to process it - XPP works out that it is a Perl program.

The result message we get back from that userCommand call is:

PROBLEM:
From Webservices: 'perl' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
: command=cmd /c perl D:\XPP\xz\xppws\BuildList2.pl \\appserv1\XPP_Data\alljobz/CLS_WebServices/GRP_ABCDEF/JOB_GHI ws apply ftp-robot

Can anyone advise how the change of Perl location on our XPP server has had an impact on those userCommand callouts?
Any other insight also gratefully received!
