em spaces in ragged zone

Hello. I am submitting this question on behalf of one of our users. He would like some clarification on how an em space is defined within the context of a ragged zone.

Here is his question verbatim:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My question is clarification about how the em-space is defined: a hard, non-justifiable space? Or a “soft” justifiable space, comparable to spaceband?
Given the phrase, “width of the em space defined in the currently selected FAST,” I assume it’s the former, ie, a hard, non-justifiable space, but it’d help to have that confirmed
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a screen shot of the documentation containing the phrase he references in his message:

Screenshot of Trados Studio documentation section titled 'Ragged Zone' describing the width of the ragged zone as a percentage of the em space defined in the currently selected FAST, with an example provided.

Any answers are appreciated.

Thank you.
