Hi, I have a translation project ongoing, and I have updated during the process some deadlines in customer review 1, customer review 2, etc. When I check these deadlines in the workflow, they seemed updated. But when I check the status on stages, it is still with the previous deadline. Can you help me understand if i am missing any step in the process when updating the deadline? Or if this is an issue with the platform?

Title: Feature Request: Ability to Copy Language Combinations Between Resources (TM → TM Engine, Pricing Model → Workflow, Workflow → Project Template)

Description:
Hello Team,
I would like to suggest a new feature that would significantly improve efficiency when configuring multiple TE resources.

Currently, when working with large sets of language combinations, each resource (TM, TM Engine, Pricing Model, Workflow, Project Template) requires manual entry of source and target language pairs. This becomes time‑consuming and repetitive, especially when the same combinations must be replicated across several resources.

Proposed Enhancement:
Please introduce an option to copy or transfer language combinations from one resource to another, such as:

Copy TM language combinations directly to a TM Engine
Copy Pricing Model language combinations to a Workflow
Copy Workflow language combinations to a Project Template

The ability to replicate an existing set of language pairs with a single action would help users avoid manual entry for each combination, especially for accounts with large multilingual setups.

Benefits:

Saves significant human effort and reduces setup time
Ensures consistency across TE resources
Reduces manual errors
Supports faster onboarding of new projects and configurations

This enhancement would be extremely helpful for teams managing multiple complex setups. Thank you for considering this request.

Cannot add termbase

Hello, I am very new and I can't even seem to add a termbase to my project in Trados Studio 2024.

Here is what my project settings look like.

But whenever I try to add a term I still get this message:

"The local version of file XYZ available in Trados Studio conflicts with the version stored in the cloud. [...]" - Can this message provide more details, please?

We just had a rather unpleasant surprise with the message above (more specifically, with the functionality behind that).

In a cloud project comprising more than 50 individual files, we had to make subsequent changes. At one point, we encountered the message shown above; after accepting the overwrite, we found out to our, er, surprise that the local versions had in fact been the most recent ones. But these are now gone.

While it might probably be impossible to completely avoid such situations, the information provided in this message should be more detailed, including:

- the date and time when the local version was last saved;
- the date and time when the cloud version was last saved;
- perhaps even the file sizes.

This would allow to take a more informed decision regarding overwriting.

Follow-up questions:

- Are there any workflow steps that would prevent the mismatch in the first place?
- Would it be feasible to save backup copies before overwriting?

Imported file type settings for MadCap files don't work anymore

Hi,

We used to work with MadCap files in the past without issue, and when we switched to Trados Team our old file type settings from Trados Studio/GroupShare were uploaded to Trados Team.

However, it seems that these file type settings don’t currently work for the files that we have, and we don’t have enough knowledge about this to know what to change. In Trados Team, I get an error stating "File not supported error" during the prepocessing stage of the workflow.

It concerns the file types: .htm and .flmsp. Unfortunately, I am not able to directly upload our file type settings.

How to translate HTML Files with embedded JSON content

I have some HTML files to translate in my Trados Team/Trados Studio 2024. The HTML files are embedded with some JSON content, the JSON content are enclosed in the <script>...</script> tag pair. However, I need to translate certain fields in the JSON content.

I am aware that I can translate all JSON content by going to File Type Settings > HTML 5 > Embedded Content > Check the Other elements identified by ... > Parser Rules > Add script as the Parser Rule Name and Parser Rule Condition Path > Select Embedded Content Plain Text v1.0.

But that brings all the JSON content into the Editor window. I only wanted to translate a few fields from the JSON content, not all of them.

Please suggest.

Copying inline formatting to another segment

Our Marketing team is highlighting any changes or new strings in their InDesign file in a certain colour, so that it's easier to identify anything new/changed.
This colour is then also visible in the Trados Online Editor making it easy to see.

However, as it's always the case sometimes you need to make changes to already existing strings and we want to highlight those changes we make at the translation stage, so that Marketing can easily see the changes that we have made to already existing text.

Is it somehow possible to Copy the colour formatting from one segment to another?
Or can we actually set up Trados team, so that we would have a formatting that we can apply to our files, which also gets exported back into the IDML?

Adding differing translations for the same source in the same TM

How can I add differing translations for the same source text and define a context so they are treated as preferred under certain circumstances? I got some corrections from our local reviewers that should be made available in the TM but not every time so the project manager/translator should be able to choose between both variant, or even better the project manager should be able to set it up in a way the preferred translations are shown first if, let's say, the context is 'folder for en-us market'. Anyone knows how to do this? Or maybe I could use "Add new translation units" for the TM update (If target segments differ...) plus add the context in the Translation Memory fields? And next time refer to this project in the Perfect Match?

Unable to add Customer users in new horizontal workflow in Trados Team

Hi,

Ever since the new horizontal workflow was introduced in Trados Team, we have been unable to add users on a lower customer level to the phases in the workflow when creating projects.

In our company we work with external translators in our Team environment as well, just on a lower customer/location level than our own users. We use these locations to create the projects for the external translators so they do not have access to our own projects. In the previous, vertical, workflow, we were able to add these lower-level users without any problem to the phases in the workflow in projects created on the same lower-level location. However, with the new workflow, I have to first create the project on the desired location with only me assigned in the workflow, then assign the users and then start the project. Is there a way to make the customer users available during the initial creation of the project?

User groups functions misbehaving

Our user group configurations, which have been working fine until last month, have started behaving strangely. Project managers, who didn't have any issue so far, now can't create new users, nor save workflows, they have started seeing projects from other editors even though the option is unabled on the Roles & Permissions setup. Has anyone experienced anything similar and knows how to solve it? I have already duplicated the user group from the basic option, I have created it from scratch, and none of it seems to be working. Any ideas? 😞

The Review task with Track Changes in Cloud Editor is not working properly

I'm having problems with the track changes feature when reviewing a file in the Cloud Editor (I'm working with Trados Team). I have TC turned on and Final view selected, but as soon as I start editing a new segment, it switches back to showing all changes instead of staying in Final view. It's very annoying, and it doesn't allow me to view the text properly.

Another user had this question some time ago (https://community.rws.com/product-groups/trados-portfolio/cloud-offerings/f/1-general/44226/track-changes-not-behaving-correctly?ReplySortBy=CreatedDate&ReplySortOrder=Ascending), and I wonder if you found a solution?

I am working with Chrome [Version 138.0.7204.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)].

We are working with Trados Team since a few months, and there is one issue that we cannot solve. Is it possible in Team to download an analysis per file? In projects with more than one file, it seems you can only donwload the complete analysis of all files together. Is that correct?

Cursor Issue and Panel Malfunction in Trados Online Editor on macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

I am experiencing several issues while using Trados Online Editor on my Mac running macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, particularly when working on Japanese to English translation tasks.

The main issues are as follows:

Cursor jumps or moves unexpectedly during text entry, making it difficult or impossible to input translations. This occurs even when typing in English.
The Search panel (located on the right side of the translation interface) does not open or respond when I click on the icon.
I have tried using multiple browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox), but the issues persist. I suspect this may be related to compatibility with the macOS Japanese IME or overall issues with Sonoma.

Could you please let me know:

Is this a known issue under macOS Sonoma?
Are there any recommended settings, workarounds, or browser/IME combinations that are known to work better?
Are there plans for an update to improve compatibility with the Sonoma environment?

Error Icon:
1. Continue working within any project.
2. Notice error icons on correctly written sentences.
Input and Cursor Issues:
1. Click to type in a target language segment.
2. Input the first word and press the space bar.
3. Watch as the cursor jumps to the next segment below.
Deletion Issue:
1. Try deleting beyond the first word in any segment.
2. Realize further deletion is not possible.

I am currently experiencing multiple functional issues with Trados, both in my version for freelancers and my Professional version at work, which are disrupting my translation process. Your guidance on these matters would be greatly appreciated. Below are the detailed descriptions of the problems:

Non-Responsive Show Lookups Panel: Clicking the icon for the "Show Lookups Panel" results in no action, and the panel does not open.
Misleading Error Icon: An error icon (a red circle with a cross inside) inaccurately indicates errors on sentences that are correct.
Input Issue in Target Language Segment: Typing in the target language segment is limited, allowing only the first letter of a word to be entered.
Deletion Limitation in Target Language Segment: Deleting text is also limited, permitting only the removal of the first letter of a word.
Change in "Confirm" Button Functionality: Recently, when I click the "Confirm" button, a new menu appears with options, including 'Confirm and Move to Next Unconfirmed Segment'. This additional step was not present yesterday and has added an unnecessary layer of complexity to my workflow.

Unable to Select Customer Location During Account Creation

Context:
I am part of the Academic Partner Program and am currently working on creating customer accounts within the program’s platform.

What I’ve Tried:
When creating a new customer account, I can input the customer's domain, but there is no option available to choose their location. I have reviewed the user interface thoroughly and explored all available fields during the account creation process. I have also checked if there are additional steps or permissions required to enable location selection but found no guidance.

What Happened:
The interface allows me to input the customer's domain successfully, but it does not present dropdown menu for selecting a location.

What I Expected to Happen:
I expected to see a location field or dropdown menu when creating a new customer, allowing me to select an appropriate location.

Request:
Could you please guide me on how to enable the location selection option or let me know if there are additional steps required? Thank you!

Can st4.sdlsettings be directly imported into Trados Team?

Hello,

I usually process XML files coming from Schema with the ST4.sdlsettings file type. I usually do it in Trados Studio 2022 and it works correctly.

I would now like to process these files in Trados Team.

I initially tried to import the ST4.sdlsettings file type under File Type Configurations. The import does not work because the st4.sdlsettings file type is based on XML 1. This has been removed and permanently replaced by XML 2 in Trados.

This workflow (gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge helps me solve the issue:

1. I create a new file type setting in Trados Desktop 2022, based on XML2

2. I import there my ST4.sdlsettings file

3. I export it

4. I import it into Trados Team (under the file type configurations).

I was wondering if it is possible to import it directly the st4.sdlsettings file in Trados Team without going through Trados Desktop 2022. It seems possible, because there is the XML2 option in Trados Team:

However, it does not seem possible to upload the st4.sdlsettings anywhere in the wizard.

Do you have any experience with this file type in Trados Team (example zipped attached)

Confirming segments

I have taken out a subscription to SDL because a client required it. However, aside from being hugely complex and user-unfriendly, the software doesn't work properly. I cannot confirm all segments in Trados and need to export a package to Wordfast Pro or Cafetran to do so. It's the same whether I try in the application or online.

What permissions do I need to add to allow my translators to be able to add, edit and delete terms in Trados editor view?

Character Limits in Trados Team

Our organization needs to translate a multilingual Excel workbook. We have translated these in Trados Studio in the past, and are now trying to use Trados Team for the translation step.

Since Trados Team doesn't support the Multilingual Excel file type, our onboarding rep advised that we could set up the project in Trados Studio, import it to Trados Team and edit the sdlxliff files there. I was able to do this, but today I realized that this method does not transfer the character limits feature that we need into Trados Team. For example, if I exceed the character limit for a target segment and verify the file, it does not produce an error or warning.

I know that it's possible to set up a single character limit for the project in Settings > Configuration > QA Checker > Length verification

However, the tabs in our workbook have varying character limits, so we need to specify those.

Do you know if there is a way to set up character limits for this type of project in Trados Team?

From what I have read in the documentation, only the Bilingual Excel file type has the character limits feature in Trados Team, so we may need to break the workbook up by target language.

New Reporting engine - how to generate a report of all users in the system and the groups they have been assigned to?

Hello,

I have been testing the new reporting functionality in Trados Enterprise and found that, while I am able to generate user related reports via the translation productivity datasets for projects, it does not seem to be possible to simply export the users created in the system and their respective group ownerships.

I have tried to save the HTML page listing the users likewise (as I then could process the html with regex based search) but I always only get a fraction of the page saved. Can you advise if this is possible via the reporting engine, or if this is something I would need to query the API for?
