Cannot assign more users, limit exceeded. when creating workflow assignments.

Hi,

When creating a project template in Trados Enterprise, I cannot assign the translation task to any user, as I get the message
Error message in Trados Studio stating 'Cannot assign more users, limit exceeded' with a 'Show details' option.

I've found this help page https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000022035

but unfortunately, the resolution "Create groups specifically for granting permissions versus groups for use in assignments." is not really clear to me.

What actions should I take?

In our company, Trados is used by multiple translation specialists worldwide who are both the project creators and translators: indeed and most project templates that we, as HQ, created to facilitate them have as translation task assignee "project creator".

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Ilaria,

Essentially, we have a limit of 50 users per task assignment.

The message is telling you that you are trying to assign a task to more than 50 users. Is there really a use case for wanting more than 50 users assigned to a task, or is it because you have large groups that you created to grant permissions rather than use them for assignment?

Groups are used for two main use cases:

    - Granting permissions - Here it's fine to have groups with over 50 members, but you can't use these groups for assigning tasks

    - Assigning work - Here we have a limit of 50 users per task assignment, as generally there is no use case where you want 50+ users assigned to a single task

Ideally you create a case with our support team, they can review your configuration with you.

    Thanks,
    Luis

  • Hi Luis,

thanks for your clarification, but still I'm a bit puzzled: in this specific case, I've tried to assign the task to a single specific user (not to a group of users). Yet, I'm still getting this message.

If I'm assigning the task to the user "John Smith", why does it seem like I'm assigning it to a larger group?

    Thanks for your support
