I'm clicking No for each file in projects I receive. Since after clicking No the file opens without problems and I can complete the project, it seems that this question is useless and is just wasting my time.

If you install the power pack from the appstore it should get added and you'll still find it here:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL\T2007\TT

In general the powerpack simply puts back all the legacy features that were removed.

Thank you, I tried what you suggested. I like it except for one part. For some reason I can only align one document at a time and this creates a project each time. Is there away I can align and create a SDLXIFF file that can be imported into an existing project?

I proofread for a client who sends me .docx, PP and Excel files. For example the source file is .docx and the target file is .docx. I want to import them into Trados to review and edit them. How do I do this quickly? Sometimes I am sent a single .docx file with two columns: one with the source and the other the target language. Any tips would be appreciated. I use Trados Studio 2022.

Your friendly feature will be alignment.

Most simplistic flow for you would be if you have 1 doc for source. 1 doc for target.
Align will "map" the two documents based on structure and give you something the resembles and editor environment, but it is restrictive.

I then would save your aligned file into an offical SDLXIFF file which is a built in feature.
I love this approach as it means you get to open it in the editor view of Studio and use all the relevant productivity features like QA, Display Filters etc.

If you have 1 document with 2 columns, then you need to save 2 versions of the document.
Hide source column. Hide target column so that the concept mentioned can be applied.

以前から何度か「Export to Excel」を使っていました。久しぶりにそれを使おうとしたところ、「一括タスク」メニューから「Export to Excel」が消えています。間違って削除してしまったのかなと思い、プラグインを再度インストールするため (https://appstore.sdl.com/language/app/glossary-converter/195/ にアクセスしたのですが、リンクが切れているようです。どうすれば使えるのか、教えてください。
あと、最近Tradosのウェブサイトすべてがアクセスに以上に時間がかかります。リンクを開くたびに30秒～1分待たされるので、正直ストレスになっており、改善していただければと思います。

We have the problem that term recognition in the editor view stops working randomly. This appears to be an issue with larger projects or larger termbases. Why does this happen? closing Studio and reopening it solves it for a short while

I experienced also this problem when I developed my own TerminologyProvider. This is also how I stumbled on this thread :-)

I don't know whether MultiTerm gets its requests to supply terminiology in the same way as TerminologyProvider plugins but if it does the following might help to tackle the issue.

The way terminology is recognized and shown each time a segment is activated can be descibed as a 2-step process:

Studio asks the TerminologyProvider to search for terminology (AbstractTerminologyProvider.Search())
Studio asks for specific terms previously found in step1 (AbstractTerminologyProvider.GetEntry())

I found that in step 1 not only 1 request will be made (the one for the current segment) but several requests for surrounding segments, too, mostly 1 or 2 ahead AFAIK.

The order of the requests (ie. active segment vs. others) seems quite random with the last request often not being the one for the active segment.

When a TerminologyProvider (especially a remote one) only holds the last request in cache to supply the terms in step 2 it will likely not find the relevant terms. Even worse, if GetEntry() returns null (or something invalid) Studio might not ask for more terms for that segment. However, if you later return to that segment you might get lucky ... quite a nighmare to figure that one out, I may add

At our agency our linguists are experiencing the same problems. It is happening with TB that are sent to us via WorldServer. Our PMs open the WS packages, then create normal Studio packages for our internal linguists. The TB are very small. Path lengths to the TB files are under 250 characters. Reorganising does not help. Studio and MultiTerm versions are up to date.

Oh brilliant that the source of the issue was found. I should have remembered to check if you were working with an "empty" lang pair and yes its can be overlooked if you are working with a TM that is not file based. Happy days Jose-Luis Rodriguez-Escalona

I use SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance and the existing leverage in my TMs is not being reflected in the analyses that I create. I am choosing the existing TM during the project creation but this doesn't seem to make any difference. The analyses that I get don't include a row for "Translation Providers". Other users seem to get the correct analysis using the same TM in SDL Trados Studio 2017 Professional.

Hi Lyds,

Thanks for your help. I was preparing a project (rather than translating a single document) and I was aware of all the boxes that need to be ticked when setting the TM.

I have now found the source of the problem:

I had two target languages selected in the Language Pairs: Spanish (International) and Spanish (Spain, International Sort), and the TM is for English (United States) to Spanish (Spain, International Sort). When I now go to the "Create a New Project" dialog, I remove "Spanish (International)" from the Target Languages (so that the only option left is "Spanish (Spain, International Sort)") and the TM is being recognized (and therefore appears in the "Translation Providers:" line of the analysis). I am now getting the expected leverage in my analysis.

Please correct me if I am incorrect in my assumptions, but

You are performing "Translate Single Document"?
You do know that "Batch Task" of "Analysis" is not run automatically

As you describe, when you go to reports you are missing "Translation Providers"

Please review the following steps:

1.Batch Task - Analysis Files
2. Make sure your TM is listed as well as "Enabled" and ticked for "Lookup"

3. Unrelated, but check the Analyze File and Fuzzy Band settings

4. When finishing, ensure its completed error free.
If you see an error, please save it and let me know

I hope that these visual steps help clarify what to look for and that it gives you the results you need.
If it however does not match your workflow, or if its not clear please do let us know including some screen prints of your settings.

We really like the new filtering option introduced in 2021 (and also in the Community advanced display filter for 2019). But there is one thing that we haven’t discovered how to do and that we often need to do: Filter after empty segments. Is there any way to do that? And ideally also insert a specific content (e.g, a space) into all segments that correspond to your filtering.
