"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" Error

Hello,

I experience this error almost every time I create a new project. Among others, this prevents me from updating my project templates.

Please assist.

    Can you share the error stack so we have some idea what might be causing the error?  That will not only provide better information but will also tell us what version of Studio you are using etc.

    Can you also confirm exactly what you did that  suggested?

  • I do not know what the error stack is. And I no longer remember what I did, as I have been chasing for days!

    As you see in the screenshot, this happens after creating a project.

    I think she suggested me to delete the default template and work with the new one, but the same errors appears even after this procedure.

    Instead of being ironic, please be effective. It is not my fault Lydia does not answer me. A simple "Apologies" would be enough instead... I have paid a lot of money for this unreliable tool called Studio.

    I suggest you reset and reinstall.  This is clearly a problem on your machine for some reason we cannot diagnose since the "Object Reference" message itself is a generic message created by windows for many many possible problems.  I don't even think seeing your files will help since you said it's any files.

    Clean install... try the following.

    1. Uninstall Studio
    2. Uninstall MultiTerm

    Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake):

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\TradosStudio2022\
    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\MultiTermDesktop2022\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Project Templates\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Projects\projects.xml

    I think that's about it for a clean install. Then reinstall.

    Anyway, I followed you instructions and the issue has not been resolved:

I don't think you need to worry about Autosuggest as you don't even now what it is and the folders I asked you to delete should not include anything important anyway. I just said back them up in case you made a mistake and deleted more than you should. So I have logged a support case on your behalf.
