This virus is in the software still/again. Norton blocks the update in Trados Freelance 22. Very sloppy work by RWS!

I don't think a support case needs to be raised for this as the solution is entirely with the user to make sure that they are happy with the safety of the installer.  Most AV providers update their solutions to not pick up on these, but sometimes it can take some time to work through their systems.  But it's not anything RWS can do to address!!

Well, then register the RWS files properly with common AV software providers! Your reply policy is outrageous. Your attitude towards users and paying customers is extremely disrespectful.

Why is it?  I explained that registering these things can take time to work through the systems.  Not all AV software picks this up, only some.  I also explained how to check the integrity of the installer you downloaded so if you have concerns, which I would expect to be the result of seeing such a warning, then you can at least check this yourself and still install and use the update.

If you think that is an outrageous response I'm sorry.

I also just checked virustotal.com with the installer and no security vendors flagged this file as malicious:

VirusTotal is a free online service that scans files and URLs for viruses and malware by checking them against dozens of antivirus engines at once.  Neither Norton, nor Gen Digital, is listed but it is voluntary and the majority of AV solutions are.  Interestingly the installer for 2022 has not changed and there is no reason why it should get flagged, unless the AV software has changed the way they try to identify problems.  A new heuristic rule or an adjustment in sensitivity could cause the same unchanged installer to suddenly be flagged as suspicious.  This is especially common with AVG, Avast, and Norton (all part of the same parent company, Gen Digital), which are known for aggressive heuristic scanning to protect against zero-day threats.

Certainly there is nothing wrong with the installer, or anything that RWS could do here.  We don't live in isolation!
