The only target count solutions I'm aware of would be these.
Bottom right hand side of your screen, a character count for the target text in your active segment:
The Target Wordcount app from the apstore:

Use an autohotkey script to give you the count:
The script I'm using returns character counts, but I guess it could be changed to count words in a rudimentary way. I used this one:
