Unable to attach GroupShare TM in Studio 2011

I'm one of a number of freelancers working on a post-editing project for SDL. SDL have set up a GroupShare TM to enhance consistency, but I cannot see the TM in the list of server TMs in project settings - instead of a list of customer names in the box, it's just blank. We've checked my settings, I've turned my firewall off to see if that makes a difference, but to no avail. One of the translator's in the Network Office has tried logging in to the GS server with my details, and can access the TM without any problems. I can also check GS files out, work on them, and check them back in again.

  • Hi Kerry,

It sounds like a permissions thing to me. GS can give different access to internal or external users so maybe your profile doesn't allow this? I think your best solution is to contact the project manager and ask them to check the permissions.

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for responding. The Network Office have already checked the permissions and they can't see a problem with them. One of the translators in the office tried logging in using my details and was able to access and attach the TM with no problems.

  • Hmnnn... perhaps the best aproach would be for you to have the translator in the office review what you're doing over a webex. I can't think why you would have this problem if if was possible for the translator pretending to be you... unless of course it's down to the Studio versions? What version of Studio was the translator in the office using and what version of GroupShare is in use? I would think it's 2015 so maybe there is an incompatibility here with you using 2011.

  • Hi Paul,

The translator used 2014 and 2015 so that is the likely cause then. We're going to admit defeat on this one, as there is an ordinary TM and MT. Thanks for the help.

  • Hi Kerry,
what Groupshare version do you use? If it is 2014 or 2015, it should work with Studio 2011. But if it is 2017, translators need at least Studio 2015 SR3 to be able to connect to the TMs - this was an information we got initially from SDL...
