Similar with your other post, you need either an older version of Studio installed or the latest Passolo 2022 version.

So what do I do now?

I have customers that send jobs in 2018.
Do I send a claim of compensation for lost income to SDL?

2022 can't handle 2018 files.

If you have an upgraded single user license for Trados Studio 2024 you can also use the Trados 2022 version:

The latest license I have is for 2014, although I have bought both 2019 and 2022.

Everything turned quiet. Can anyone who has access to the emperor's ear (SDL) give me contact info so I can install 2022 to make 2018 work again?

My clients are big enterprises and they can't just change versions for me. This means I lose income.

You get downloads for Studio 2022 from here - Cumulative Updates for Trados Studio 2022, and for MultiTerm here - Cumulative Updates for MultiTerm 2022. 2022 and 2024 will co-exist peacefully on your machine.

Also this example shows the value of a support contract. Especially with a product mix of Passolo, Studio and MultiTerm, it makes sense to consider one so you do not have to rely only on the community to help you. It's great to have community support but can be better to have access to our support team for such urgent scenarios. Just saying.

Thanks. I have bought and paid for the software and SDL should phase out products like Passolo 2018 if they can't coexist with newer versions of other programs.

It's not unusual that software developers use Passolo to translate their software UI and then use Studio to translate the help files and other documentation.

I have several big clients like that and I assume SDL itself uses the Passolo and Studio combo. That's why I expect it to work.

I will be more cautious with upgrading fast in the future as I see now that I should have stayed with 2022.

Can you please tell me which version of Studio and MultiTerm is the last working with Passolo 2018 and If I need to purchase a license to use it as a dummy installation?

Hi Thomas - I have an idea. You could perhaps switch to a Studio subscription (away from the perpetual upgrade cycle) and this will support all versions - so you could install Studio 2022 plus 2024 and they both will work (and any future Studio versions as well). Could that be an option? This way you would be more flexible in which combinations of Passolo you use with more recent Studio versions. I found the Studio 2019 installation file and it allows me to use it for 30 days. If it shuts down the Passolo Add-in we will see.

I have counter suggestion for RWS: Please send me a license (which I paid for at the time, but now is removed) for Studio 2019 so I can workaround the add-in problem and continue my work in peace.

(I am happy that a human being at RWS contacted me. I have a two-week long problem with activating the big OS, but haven't yet been able to get into contact with a human to solve the problem.)

Now I urgently need a license for Studio 2021 (which I already have paid for).

I got a 30k job in Studio and I have to add terms to a Multiterm termbase as I go, but the Add term function is not working in 2024.

I repaired Studio 2024, but now Studio 2024 doesn’t start at all. Just shows the splash window, that’s it.

Therefore I must work in 2021 now.

I’m not asking for fixes, I’m asking to register my Studio 2021.

Is that doable?
