Passolo 2022 CU8 with Support for Microsoft .NET 10 is Now Available

We’ve just shipped a comprehensive update for Passolo, and there’s a standout highlight: full support for Microsoft .NET 10 only two weeks after Microsoft’s final release of .NET 10. Dear Passolo users,

This is just a quick announcement that Passolo 2022 Cumulative Update 2 (CU2) is now available! This is a quite comprehensive update. Among other enhancements, we have added 400+ new languages and language variants to Passolo, aligning it with the rest of the Trados portfolio. Besides this, this release introduces official compatibility with Trados Studio and MultiTerm 2022.

Hello support, Could Passolo 2018 be installed on windows server 2019 or 2022?

We have an internal tool which integrated Passolo with our build system, it is running on windows server 2019 or higher, we want to know if Passolo 2018 could be installed on it?

Hello, yes Passolo 2018 can be installed on a Windows Server 2019 or higher.

Upgrading from Passolo 2018 network license to 2022

RWS notified us about the new Passolo 2022 and we would like to upgrade from our Passolo 2018. According to the same mail we should be able to use 2018 and 2022 side by side, retaining both licenses.
But when we try to upgrade our network license, a message box appears saying that we must first return "all activations currently in use".

Does this mean that we cannot retain the 2018 license?
If so, can both 2018 and 2022 run on the 2022 license?

I found this about a similar case with 2016 and 2018

Is this procedure applicable to 2018 and 2022?
I.e. will there be a "Use Passolo 2022 license" checkbox?

Hello,

Latest version of Passolo 2018 has option to use the 2022 license:

As for license codes, you only retain the new license after upgrade but you can use it in both Passolo 2018 and 2022.

Since some time, I can't have accest to the window display of the translation.

Did somene get the same problem, and how can we solve it?

Find attached a photo of the half of the window display that appears.

The display is not full and there is no information.

No,this display window is part of standalone passolo and I don't think we are using some additional plugins.

My colleague told me that he was able to use it before, but not anymore.

That seems to be a browser window which is not part of standalone Passolo as far as I know.

Do you use any plugins for this? If that is the case then maybe you should check it with the plugin developers.

I was able to replicate the issue on Passolo 2018 as well, although with fewer (17) strings affected.

Is reported now to development with ID CRQ-22892 and I hope we have a fix in the near future.

we are facing some issue with passolo 2016.
this is only for our x64 translation. it's not seen with our x86 translation.

the symptoms look very similar to the ones claimed to be fixed in CRQ-8438 for passolo 2018.

warning when generating the target file:
[x] strings did not use the translation, because the source file has changed text or coordinates

can you share some details, please?
under what exact conditions would one face CRQ-8438? and how exactly was it fixed at passolo end?

I've tried to replicate the issue from the Microsoft article but I do not get similar warning in Passolo(both 2016 or 2018).
Can you send me a sample file with the issue at amaniu@sdl.com to check it?

in the meanwhile we have identified the exact conditions under which passolo 2016 shows those error symptoms:

we have an inherited form where the base form is defined in a 64-bit assembly.
there apperently is a bug in passolo 2016 which makes it fail in such a case.
this is very similar to microsoft visual studio - where such forms cannot be displayed in the "designer":

the workaround is to change the assembly to AnyCPU.

this is no long-term solution, of course.
we want that assembly to be pure x64. and passolo should be able to cope with it.

now the big question remains:
does passolo 2018 (plus the fix for CRQ-8438) fully support x64?

yes, in the Diagnostic Log of passolo 2016 we are seeing various problems in the following areas:

Referenced Assemblies
Missing or Erroneous References
Missing or Erroneous Types

i'm just not sure how to read those details.

where and how exactly does passolo try to resolve those references??

There was an issue caused by missing referenced assemblies where Passolo would add Menus items twice in the list and then throw the warning during saving the target that those Menus would not use the translation.

The issue was fixed and Passolo stores only once the Menus and no warning should be present.

Similar warnings could show if the source / target string lists have not been updated before generating the target. Please update first and then try to generate the target or verify if you can replicate the issue by creating a new project just with the strings / dlls affected.

Upgrade from Passolo 2015 to Passolo 2018

Hi,

I am unsure if I should ask about this migration projet here or open a case. I start here, let me know if it is better to open a case to SDL Support.

We are currently using Passolo 2015 (1 Unlimited team, several Pro studio and several translator edition).

We have several projects and teams involved and I would like to plan the upgrade to Passolo 2018 without impact on our production.

The steps we are aiming for :

1. testing the 2018 edition on a copy of our files and make sure that everything is working smoothly. For that we will need to keep the 2015 Unlimited licence while using a 'real' (not demo) 2018 unlimited licence for 2 to 3 months. Is it a common request or do I have to contact my sale representative ?

2. Then I will ask to all the users (pro studio and translator edition) to upgrade to 2018 edition. And plan a full "translation cycle" to make sure everything is ok.

3. In the case where we encounter serious issues, we need to be able to go back to 2015 licences (we would have made a backup of the old files), is it possible to ask the support for such a licence reset ?

Thanks in advance for your help, any documentation with a step-by-step process (other than simply upgrading the licence) is welcome.

You will need to check this with the sales representative and see if they can grant you a limited Passolo 2018 license for the desired duration.

Once the testing is done and validated, you can upgrade the main 2015 license to 2018 version.
