Does the Antidote Verifier plugin support the new Antidote 12?

Does the Antidote Verifier plugin support the new Antidote 12? I am using Studio 2021 SR2. I have already asked Druide, the makers of Antidote, but they are deferring to RWS for confirming the plugin compatibility, as Trados AppStore is the author of the plugin.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide any error messages you might have encountered while trying to use the Antidote Verifier plugin with Antidote 12, and any troubleshooting steps you have already taken.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

The Antidote Verifier plugin is designed to work with Antidote 10 as per the information on the RWS AppStore. As of now, there is no official information available about its compatibility with Antidote 12. However, it's worth noting that the compatibility of the plugin with newer versions of Antidote is usually dependent on the updates from the plugin author, in this case, the Trados AppStore.

I would recommend checking for updates within the Trados Studio application and on the RWS AppStore regularly, as any updates to the plugin to support Antidote 12 would be released there.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • I checked the plugin on the RWS AppStore for updates, but no versions or updates are listed there. There is no update for the plugin notified in the Trados Studio application either. I need the compatibility confirmation before I updgrade to Antidote 12.

  • Hi  ,

That's a fair question to ask:)

Unfortunately, I can't yet confirm anything as I don't have Antidote 12 installed. I'll check with the developers and see if we can get one for testing.

However, as I have Antidote 11 installed, I can confirm I can use it with the plugin for Studio 2021, no conflicts presented.

Unless there are major changes between Antidote 11 and Antidote 12, I shouldn't expect issues.

But this is yet to be confirmed. Hopefully, there are users who already have Antidote 12 and give more feedback.

    Regards,

    Oana

  • Thank you, Oana,

Compatibility confirmation with Antidote 12 for all Studio versions using the Antidote Verifier plugin would be also appreciated. I am considering upgrading to Studio 2024, but I have notices some users are also experiencing issues with the plugin and Studio 2024 in other threads. This is an important part of my quality assurance process, and if there are issues, it could prevent me from making any upgrades. My current setup, consisting of Antidote 11 and Studio 2021, is currently working fine.

  • Hi Oana,

I am currently running Trados 2024 - 18.0.1.2259 on Windows 11 with all of the latest updates.

When I tried to upgrade from Antidote 11 to Antidote 12, it caused an error message every time I tried to run Antidote. I attempted to install the latest plugin and rebooted multiple times, but to no avail. I could not get it working on my workstation.

I have since been in contact with Druide, the company that makes Antidote 12, and I was told they were informed by RWS Support that Antidote 12 works with Trados 2024 for them, but it does not work for me.

I was forced to uninstall Antidote 12 and reinstall Antidote 11, which works properly as it always has with all of the plugins I've used with it (I was not using the latest plugin and it still worked).

Druide is adamant that I work directly with you to resolve this issue, so please advise what the proper procedure is.

  • Hi Cylvie,

You are entirely correct to wait until it has been formally confirmed. I had a terrible experience installing Antidote 12. It also causes memoQ 11.2 (and 9) to crash, causing you to lose your work if you haven't already saved or replicated (for your information).

Druide told me they were informed by RWS Support that it is working for them in testing. It was a disaster for me, and I had to uninstall Antidote 12 and reinstall Antidote 11. Only RWS Support can issue a new version of the plugin to fix this, as they alone are responsible for development of the Antidote Verifier in the Trados Studio App Store.

  • Hey Hi Ian,

Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry to hear your upgrading experince was a disaster.

I wrote to Druide just last week and they told that, while Trados Studio 2021 was in the list of supported software by Antidote 12, they could not confirm it worked with the Antidote Verifier plugin; only RWS could confirm.

As a result, I paid extra money to save my Antidote 11 licence while upgrading my Mac to Antidote 12, which is great! I could have been eligible to an additional discount in exchange of my Antidote 11 licence.

I hope RWS will fix this very soon, as this is now an essential plugin (even required by some agencies) for translators working in the ENG-FR combination.

  • Hi Cylvie,

I ended up surrendering my perpetual licence in favour of a subscription at the time that reformulation was only offered online. It is now offered directly in Antidote 12, if I am not mistaken. So, yes, I hear you about the cost!

And rest assured that Druide is well aware that we are contractually bound under agreements with certain agencies to use their product as I stressed that very issue in my exchanges with them.

Unfortunately, it would appear that we have been left to our own devices to resolve this issue. Why Druide Support can't have a few Trados licences to flag problems themselves to RWS Support is anyone's guess, but I guess they feel that the huge translation community—80% of which accesses Antidote via Trados or memoQ—just isn't worth the effort or cost because otherwise they would do so and not require us to do their work for them—for free!

  • Hi Oana,

You asked for more feedback, and I gave you mine regarding my unfortunate experience and inability to access Antidote 12 using Trados Studio 2024.

RWS appears to be ignoring this issue.

Many freelance translators in Canada are contractually bound to use Antidote to check the spelling and grammar of their translations prior to delivering them. Accordingly, access to Antidote 12 is not "nice to have" for Trados users in Canada.

Could you please tell me if you have any new information to provide on the status of the Antidote Verifier plug-in?

I cannot put my business at risk by trying to upgrade again if Studio 2024 is not going to work with Antidote and I am unable to fulfil my contractual obligations to my clients.

Please advise at your earliest convenience.
