New DeepL plugin V. 7.1.1.1 doesn't work with Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657

Hello,

I just installed DeepL update (V. 7.1.1.1 for Trados Studio  2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657.

No error messages.

I activated DeepL in my existing project (I had to choose V1 Advanced/Ultimate because with V2 my license was not accepted even if I have licence for Pro). I also obtained new API code,

When translation, no search in DeepL is done.

What can I do? (I already deinstalled, re-installed, de-activated, re-activated).

Thank you!

Best,

Alexandra

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Alexandra,

It sounds like you're experiencing some challenges with the DeepL plugin in Trados Studio. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    **Step 1:** Verify Plugin Installation

    - Ensure that the DeepL plugin is correctly installed. You can do this by going to the Add-Ins tab in Trados Studio and checking if DeepL is listed under Installed plug-ins. If not, uninstall and reinstall the plugin from the RWS AppStore.

    **Step 2:** Check API Key

    - Double-check that the API key you obtained from your DeepL account is correctly entered in the plugin settings. Make sure there are no extra spaces or characters.

    **Step 3:** Project Settings

    - Review your project settings to ensure that DeepL is set as the translation provider. Go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > [Your Language Pair] > Translation Providers and confirm that DeepL is selected.

    **Step 4:** Language Compatibility

    - Ensure that the languages you are working with are supported by DeepL. Some languages may have restrictions or may not be available for translation.

    **Step 5:** Automatic Translation Settings

    - Check if the option "Apply automatic translation when no matches exist in the translation memory" is enabled in the Trados Studio options menu. This setting allows DeepL translations to be automatically inserted into the target segments.

    **Step 6:** Update Software

    - Make sure that both Trados Studio and the DeepL plugin are updated to their latest versions. You can check for updates in Trados Studio under Help > Check for updates.

If you have followed these steps and the issue persists, consider providing more details about your project settings and any specific behaviors you observe during translation. This information can help in diagnosing the problem further.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Alexandra,

I understand that you've already followed the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. Let's explore a few additional options to help resolve the issue with the DeepL plugin in Trados Studio:

    **Step 1:** Verify Language Compatibility

    - Ensure that the languages you are trying to translate are supported by DeepL. Some languages may have restrictions or may not be available for translation. You can check the list of supported languages on the DeepL website.

**Step 2:** Check DeepL API Key

    - Confirm that the API key you are using is valid and has not expired. You can do this by logging into your DeepL account and checking the API key under your account settings.

**Step 3:** Health Status of the Plugin

    - Check the health status of the DeepL Machine Translation Provider in the RWS App Store. If it shows "Not Configured," you may need to validate the configuration and ensure that the API key is correctly entered.

    **Step 4:** Reinstall the Plugin

    - If you haven't already, consider completely uninstalling the DeepL plugin and then reinstalling it. Make sure to remove any residual files from the plugin's previous installation before reinstalling.

**Step 5:** Reset Trados Studio Settings

    - As a last resort, you can try resetting your Trados Studio settings. This can help resolve any configuration issues that may be affecting the plugin's functionality.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please provide more details about the specific languages you are working with and any error messages you may have encountered. This information will help in diagnosing the problem further.

  • Hi Patrick,

I found a workaround in the meantime (activating options Send source as plain text and Resend Draft) but I have to do this with each and every new project and I don't understand why I have to do this (with previous DeepL version this was not necessary). Also, I don't understand why I need to choose V1 because I have Pro subscription).

If you have explanation or better solution, I would like to hear your thoughts :)

    Best,

    Alexandra
