OpenAI Provider not working for adaptations

This is bound to be something silly, but I've no idea what I'm overlooking.

While the OpenAI Provider for Trados Studio (latest version of the plug-in for Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.2.6370) does what it needs to do when translating files using the Pre-Translate batch task, it doesn't do anything when it needs to adapt existing translations (e.g. with the default Refine with Terms prompt or a vous>tu prompt).

We've tried match values from 0% to 100%, Ignore Translated Segments is not ticked(even though the segments are in Draft and there's no TM in the project), we've activated, deactivated, reactivated and reset the in-process cache, etc.

Any ideas?

Clarified something we tried already.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the adaptations you are trying to perform and any error messages you may have encountered.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems you're experiencing issues with the OpenAI Provider for adaptations in Trados Studio. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

**Step 1:** Ensure that the match value is set correctly. Since you mentioned that the match value is set to 100%, verify that there are indeed 100% matches available in your translation memory (TM). If there are no 100% matches, the system will not adapt the segments as expected.

**Step 2:** Check the settings for the Pre-Translate batch task. Make sure that the Minimum match value in the Pre-Translate settings matches the Minimum match value set in the Translation Memory Search settings. If the TM has no 100% matches, consider lowering the Minimum match value to allow for fuzzy matches.

**Step 3:** Review the TM settings. If the TM corresponding to your language pair does not have the Update checkbox enabled in the Trados Live / Language Cloud translation engine, this could prevent updates from being applied.

**Step 4:** If you have not done so already, try re-indexing your Cloud Translation Memory. This can help resolve issues with matches not being recognized correctly.

**Step 5:** If the problem persists, consider disabling the Auto Send Feedback option in the SDL MT Cloud Rate Translations settings, as this may affect the adaptation process.

**Step 6:** Lastly, ensure that your Machine Translation Cloud subscription is active and that you are using the latest version of the OpenAI Provider plugin.

If you continue to face issues, please provide more specific details about the adaptations you are trying to perform, and any error messages you may have encountered. This will help in diagnosing the problem more effectively.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • This isn't it.

The match % seems to work the other way around for the OpenAI plugin in that 100% will be left untouched is you set the match value to 100%. So the AI-powered chatbot seems to be wrong in this regard.

Steps 2 to 5 are irrelevant to what I'm doing. How would one re-index the OpenAI Provider...

As as for step 6: yes, we are using an active OpenAI subscription with remaining credits and we are using the latest version of the plugin.
