AI Assistant not working

Hi,

I have just startet using AI assistant (OpenAI gpt-4o model) and it is not working as it should. F. eks. in the example below it should automatically sett "lege" in stead of "dr." because this is how this term is translated in the Termbase "lek.med = lege". AI assistant is enabled with Refine translation prompt. Should it not have insertet "lege" automatically? Or have i misunderstood something?

Please, look at the printscreens below.

Screenshot of a translation software interface showing a term 'lek.med Anna Klima' incorrectly translated as 'dr. Anna Klima'. Term recognition window highlights 'lek.med' with a correct term 'lege' suggested but not applied in the translation.

AI assistant is not showing that anything is wrong with the sentence, though the word dr. is an incorrect translation of lek.med and "Refine Translation" prompt is on.

Screenshot of an AI Assistant interface with a message 'No matches found or no lookup performed.' and an animated character holding a phone, indicating no translation suggestions are available.

lek.med exists in the activ Termbase, see: Term recognition in the first pic.

My settings are as follows: Is there anything wrong in the settings? or should I do something more than just to tick the right boxes?

Screenshot of settings dialog for AI translation software. Options for 'Ignore translated segments' and 'Enable Terminology-aware Translation Suggestions' are checked. Connection to 'gpt-4o' is established.

Can anyone help to do this the right way?

Or paste a link to the documentation that shows the right way to do it? Thank you in advance.!

  • Hello,

I understand that you're having trouble with the AI assistant not translating terms as per your Termbase. Let's try to troubleshoot this issue.

Step 1: Ensure that your Termbase is correctly linked to your project. You can check this in the Project Settings under the Language Pairs and All Language Pairs options.

Step 2: Check if the term "lek.med" is correctly entered in your Termbase with the correct source and target languages.

Step 3: Make sure that the AI assistant is enabled with the "Refine Translation" prompt. This can be checked in the Advanced Translation Settings.

Step 4: If the issue persists, you might want to consider using the Language Cloud terminology instead of MultiTerm. The Language Cloud has a "Linguistic Search" option that can retrieve all terms based on a word's stem or root, providing the perfect or nearest match first.

Step 5: Another option is to use the Trados Copilot AI Assistant with the OpenAI Provider for Trados. This supports AI working with the terms in your Termbase and can ensure you get the correct form for your translation even if it's not actually in your Termbase.

Remember, the AI assistant is designed to assist with translations, but it may not always provide the exact translation as per your Termbase. It's always a good idea to review the translations and make necessary adjustments.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

  •

You might have resolved this by now, but in the Settings screenshot above, you definitely have to check the option "Enable Terminology-aware Translation Suggestions" in order for ChatGPT to work with your termbase.

  • Hi Daniel :-)

I have changed my settings for both AI Assistand and OpenAI. I am not sure what "Ignore translated segments" does, so I left it out.
Screenshot of AI translation settings with 'Enable Terminology-aware Translation Suggestions' checked and 'Ignore translated segments' unchecked.

Unfortunately, Terminology aware translation does not work as I expected, i.e. the terms that are recognized in Termbase are not used by either OpenAI or AI Assistant.

Screenshot showing a translation software interface with term recognition highlighting a term in the source text but not used in the translation result.

Screenshot of a translation software interface where a term is recognized in the source panel but the suggested translation does not match the recognized term.

As you can see the term that was recognized in the Termbase was not used in the translation, but when I try to type itin  by hand it shows up as a suggestion... so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Maybe you can give me a suggestion what I should write in my prompts??

    My prompt is as follows:
"Please refine the translation to populate it with the terminology from the current Termbase assignet to this project. Behold the same formatting as in the source text. "

    Do you have any suggestions?

  • I have tried several different prompts now and OpenAi is still not working as it should, it is not populating the translations with terms from the Termbase.... Can anyone suggest any solution, please? Or give me an example of the prompts you are using yourself?

  • Hello!!! Is there anyone who can help me to write the prompt which works??? I have tried to change it at least 20 times and the result is the same. Neither OpenAI or AI Assistand is populating translations with terms from the Termbases. It literally doeas not care about the Termbase at all. What can be the problem, please help!
Should I open a case on that ?

  • Hi  , as discussed via your case with RWS Support, I logged the issue for our Development (as CRQ-40545), to investigate further and implement a fix in a future Studio/plug-in update.

  • Hello  , I just wanted to let you know that a new version of the OpenAI plug-in (version 1.1.4.0) is available on the RWS Appstore. Can you please install it and let us know if the terms are used as expected with this one?

Please remember to uninstall the current version of the plug-in before installing the new version.

  • Hi,

I will try to install this one, THANK you! but I dont know if I am able to uninstall the old one, it was ready to use with Trados Studio 2024. I did not install it myself... How do I do it?
