Hi Community,

I wonder if there is a way to instruct GPT within Trados to post-edit the target translations, already translated with NMT (another provider). I am aware that you can perform this task segment by segment, using different prompts, like "Refine translations", which changes (but not always, which is annoying) the translated segment according to the project terms from the Multiterm.

But I am looking for a way to do it for the whole project at once. In batch tasks, I see the option "Pre-translate Files with AI Professional", but I don't want to resend to a NMT engine what is already pre-translated. I just need to post-edit the destination.

Is this option possible somehow?

Hi Jesse,

Yes, it handles inline tags, both in Translate and Proofread mode (under Batch operations, in the Supervertaler Assistant window).

Translate mode allows you to run batch translation on your entire project, taking the entire context term base and any TM matches into account.

Proofread mode creates a report in the Reports tab with numbered items, numbered according to the relevant segment. Clicking on these will take you to the corresponding segment. Once each of them is done in the Reports tab, you can also click them away, just like the QA system.

For example, I just AI translated the following segment (via Ctrl+T), and it automatically inserted all the tags correctly:

I'm currently working on a third, post-edit mode, but this is still in a development branch. This mode will apply AI to improve, if necessary, already translated segments and show everything with tracked changes.

As you can see from the link I posted, quite a few people are working on similar solutions. However, my thinking with Supertranslator for Trados was to keep everything as simple as possible by not asking the user to import and export all kinds of bilingual files (into and out of their CAT tools), whether Word tables or SDLXLIFF files, like CotranslatorAI and TransAide.

The beauty of my plugin is that Trados does the heavy lifting while offering an improved terminology experience and a boatload of AI tricks.

I have also implemented a context-sensitive help system. If you click the little question marks in the plugin UI, they will take you to the corresponding sections in an online help system that is constantly updated:

Thanks for the information.
I like the idea that TransAIde is using by translating with full context, but it would be nice if the importing/AI translation/exporting was all automated for you.
By the way, does your plug-in handle inline tags correctly?

I haven't tested the AI Professional plug-in route yet, but I am currently working on adding a post-editing mode (with track changes support) to my Supertranslator for Trados plug-in, which already supports batch translation and proofreading (among other things) and supports multiple LLMs (via API and local). How do Chinese Translators Make Use of AI in Trados Studio?

Please correct me if I were wrong, but as far as I know, Trados Studio 2024 currently only supports OpenAI and Azure OpenAI, neither of which is available to Chinese users.

So, as a Chinese translator, how do I, or my team in China, make use of AI in Trados Studio?

Is there any chance Trados Studio extends the coverage of the current OpenAI Translation Provider plugin to other major AI providers, like, QWEN, DeepSeek, Claude, Gemini, or even custom models? Or develop such a plugin based on the existing one? The need for custom models would be extremely useful for companies or teams with their own AI infrastructure and model resources and prefer not to share their contents with any other LLM providers like the ones mentioned above.

AI Assistant not working

Hi,

I have just startet using AI assistant (OpenAI gpt-4o model) and it is not working as it should. F. eks. in the example below it should automatically sett "lege" in stead of "dr." because this is how this term is translated in the Termbase "lek.med = lege". AI assistant is enabled with Refine translation prompt. Should it not have insertet "lege" automatically? Or have i misunderstood something?

Please, look at the printscreens below.

AI assistant is not showing that anything is wrong with the sentence, though the word dr. is an incorrect translation of lek.med and "Refine Translation" prompt is on.

lek.med exists in the activ Termbase, see: Term recognition in the first pic.

My settings are as follows: Is there anything wrong in the settings? or should I do something more than just to tick the right boxes?

Can anyone help to do this the right way?

Or paste a link to the documentation that shows the right way to do it? Thank you in advance.!

Hi Emi, I'm experiencing the exact same issue as you. I've recently started using the AI assistant (OpenAI GPT-4o model), but it doesn't seem to function as expected. The assistant completely ignores my termbase, despite my attempts to configure it properly. I've tried multiple solutions, but nothing seems to work.
Were you able to resolve this issue on your end?

Teams, Accelerate or Enterprise are all products that are part of Trados Cloud and are not related to Trados Studio (Freelance or Professional) other than Trados Studio can open cloud projects in these products and work on them if you are given access. You can purchase solutions using Trados Copilot for these versions.

The AI Assistant feature is only available in Trados Studio 2024, and it's installed by default.

Hi, after attending a seminar on the new functionalities of Trados 2024, I was told that Trados Copilot was only available on the professional versions of Trados i.e. Teams, Accelerate or Enterprise. Now, I'm interested in using the AI assistant features and looking into getting an Azure membership. Will this feature be compatible with Trados Freelance 2024 or do I need to upgrade? XML tags causing issues with machine translation results

Hello

Talked with out Swedish translator and seems the SW Deepl engine is giving some odd answers.

In Segment 3 there is a mix, what linguist said, is maybe Norwegian or Finnish in the sentence. You will also see the word varlden repeated. That is World”. Linguist also stated that segment 4 is not accurate at all.

Did reach out to our machine translation provider to see if it was with the MT engine.

This is what they told me: "The segments are heavily tagged, which leads to the difficulties you've encountered.

When files are processed by systems using tags, such as Trados or similar CAT tools, text can be wrapped in XML tags. This wrapping might happen due to incorrect document structure recognition, encoding or markup errors during import/export processes, or usage of XML-style data storage formats which are particularly seen when converting file types, like from Word to PDF."

What would be causing this and how to fix it?

Oh, using Trados SR2 17.2.11.19134 and Windows 11 Enterprise

Hi everyone,

I would be happy if someone could help me and point me into the right direction. Maybe I am trying something that simply isn't possible with Studio.
So, what I am trying to achieve:

I am using Trados Studio 2024 with the integrated AI Assistant to improve translations and text quality via the OpenAI API. I have set up multiple Assistants on the OpenAI platform, each tailored to my specific needs.

My Goal:
I want Trados Studio to call a specific OpenAI Assistant, rather than always using the default Assistant.

My Current Configuration:
Provider: OpenAI
Endpoint: api.openai.com/.../completions
Model: gpt-4-turbo
API Key: My personal OpenAI API key
Completion Type: Chat Completion
However, there is no option in Trados Studio AI Assistant settings to specify an assistant_id. As a result, every request defaults to OpenAI’s standard Assistant instead of my custom-trained Assistant.

What I Have Tried So Far:
Changed the API endpoint to api.openai.com/.../threads → Trados throws a connection error.
Created a dedicated API key for my desired Assistant → Trados still defaults to the standard Assistant.
Tried a system prompt workaround → didn't work.
My Question:
Is there a way to select a specific OpenAI Assistant in Trados Studio 2024, instead of always using the default one?
If not directly, is there a workaround, or could this be achieved through a script or plugin?

Thank you for your very fast response. Please, look at the screenshot below. Here the term has 100 value but it was not taken into consideration, even not by the AI Assistant.

In stead of conus medullaris which is a proper term in latin it used something that does not even exist in the medical language

Anyway thank you so much for looking into this. I am sure with time we will work out the perfect plugin

Hi again,

I am testing the updated plugin but it is still not working for the polish & norwegian languages, unfortunately. As you can se the term "poradnia urazowo ortopedyczna" has been properly recognized and is available in the Term Recognition window, the value is 89 because the term does not have a hyphen but it is such a small difference that OpenAI should be able to recognize it as the same or at least a very similar term. In stead it suggests its own translation. Example nr 2. "bez kolizji z korzeniami nerwów rdzeniowych" THIS one has been translated wrong so many times that I have saved it as a term, it is perfectly recognized with 80 % value but still not used by the OpenAI. I suspect this is because these terms have a value less than 100 and then they are ignored by the plugin and the Copilot. I suggest to update the plugin so that it takes into consideration also terms with less than 100% value or it will not be usable for languages with a more complex language system than f. eks English, German, French etc. Slavic languages like Polish have a number of casus which means that the same word, be it an object, verb or an adjectiv can be written in 7 different forms, and just one change in one letter results in unproper recognition of the word which get a lower value than 100. It would be literally impossible to save each termn in 7 different cases (forms) so that it is recognized properly, so the plug in needs to understand that even if the word is written in a different casus it is still the same word.

SO my question is> Does OpenAI make use of terms that have a value less than 100 ? In my opinion it does not, at least I have not seen one example of it using a term from the Termbase with the value less than 100. This must be fixed, or the plugin will be useless for us who translate from a language which has a more complicated structure than English.

I strongly recommend to do this. It will make our work much easier and the limitations described above make this plugin in many ways unusable.
