Dear Elisa,

Thank you. Here is the screenshot of the settings of a new project.

The TM is situated on our server and the project is local.

After that I translate, validate the segments, generate the target document. When I re-open the TM to check, the new segments are not recorded.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the Project Settings window - All Language Pairs - Translation memories and automated translation? 

It should look similar to this:

Also, please mention if you confirm each segment using Ctrl+Enter or you just update the whole TM upon finishing the translation?
