Thanks Johanna Liljenzin  and Frauke Pietsch  - OK, if saving as XML does not work, next time you see the error, could you click inside the error dialog box and expand (click on the plus buttons) so that it shows more details about the error (and make the dialog box bigger so it shows more content)? There might be several plus buttons and so the dialog box might get fairly big  - but that's fine. You could then take a screenshot of the dialog box and paste it here in an answer? We can then take a closer look at the info in the dialog box and hopefully be able to advise what the underlying cause might be. Thanks, Daniel 

Hi again Frauke Pietsch  and Johanna Liljenzin  - I have done more research and it might be that I found the culprit. Could you try and turn off the Community Notifications feature in Studio via Help - Settings (in the Community group) and turn off the notifications as depicted below? We hope that this will help. Hi Daniel, thanks for being so quick about it. Since you replied the phenomenon appeared one more time, i.e. yesterday, when I didn't even touch the keyboard but could see the monitor showing the same error message from afar. So the problem is indeed not related to any action taken by the user. However, I have now disabled the “Notification Settings” as requested and will keep you posted if it happens again.

Thank you so much for your help - you seem to have found the solution!
After I disabled notifications, Trados has not crashed once.

Unfortunately, Trados has started crashing again, but this time without any error messages. I am not doing anything in particular when it crashes, just translating.

It is quite stressful, as I am in the middle of the annual report season, with a heavy workload and very little time to spare...

Hi Johanna - sorry to hear this is happening again. When there is no error message, we might still log the underlying problem in Studio's log file. If possible, you could zip up your log file folder and post it here, and we'll take a look. (Also perhaps recheck that the notifications are still disabled). You can find the log files here - c:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\logs\.. You could just zip up yesterday's log files or the whole folder. Thanks, Daniel

Hi Johanna - I did see a couple of errors in these logs, but they should not have been fatal and should have been displayed to you, so I am wondering if those are the culprits or not, possibly not. I also saw another instance of the "Argument cannot be null" error in the community notifications area - could you take another look to ensure the notifications are really off under Help - Settings in the Community group? I keep turning off the notifications (I did it yesterday) - I think they revert back to being turned on whenever Trados decides to restart as a new installation (which it does most days, which is annoying as I need to enter my favourite keyboard shortcuts, etc anew).
