Importing an exported Multiterm termbase TXT file

I have received a termbase file that was exported with Multiterm export (txt + log file).

The flat txt file has entries of the form: <Entry Number>, <SourceLanguage>, <TargetLanguage>

How do I import this file? The Multiterm import allows only XML files.

  • Tony,

ok, you have an xml file. That doesn't tell me very much I'm afraid. How did you generate your xml file? If you exported it from MultiTerm as the default export definition then you should have two files:

    - multiterm xml (contains the data)
    - multiterm xdt (contains the definition for the termbase)

If this is what you have then your best bet is to create a new termbase in MultiTerm based on the xdt file, and then import the xml into it. But all using Multiterm.

If you only have the xml, but it's still a MultiTerm xml file then you can use the Glossary Converter because it will parse the file and tell you what it finds. You then tell the Glossary Converter what each piece of information is and how it should be represented in MultiTerm (the definition) and the Glossary Converter can then convert it straight to a MultiTerm termbase.

If you have some other XML source then what is it?

    Regards

    Paul
