Firstly, have you also opened MultiTerm and updated it also?

Next, when a problem occurs after an update, the first thing to try is a Windows Repair of Studio (and MultiTerm components depending what the problem is), as here:

Close all SDL applications.
Open the Control Panel:
- Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
- Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features
- - or type 'Control Panel' in the search line on your bottom Windows toolbar.
Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2019 etc) and click 'Repair' either on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu.
Restart Studio/MultiTerm.

If that doesn't help, try reinstalling.

If that still doesn't work, then as installing is now preventing you from being able to work normally, you have the right to contact Installation Help free of charge, here:

installation and licensing help

Select 'Installation' from the 'Case type' dropdown menu.

Someone will help in the next day or two if you give your correct email address.

Did someone find a solution to this, it just started doing this on mine after updating it, closing the computer and start again, but CTRL Enter does not work !

Right, so it just happened AGAIN. Yes, I downloaded and installed the update yesterday.
Again I have copied the remainder of my document (still the same -- very long -- one) into a new file, started a new project, and am now able to proceed normally.
So can you please tell me what I am doing to make this happen? It's like Studio freezes for a moment, then all the untranslated segments change from the "white sheet of paper" symbol in the middle column to the "confirmed translation" symbol (see above), ctrl+enter stops working, and translation suggestions no longer appear when an untranslated cell is activated.
This is awfully frustrating.

Interestingly, all segments not yet translated are also marked as "confirmed". Only the line I activate and write in goes back to "unconfirmed" until confirmed. This only happened after the aforementioned problem came up.

"Add as new translation" isn't active, that is the only difference.

I don't think DeepL has anything to do with this problem so let's not confuse things here. You have said that without DeepL there, so just a TM, the cursor remains in the active segment after using Ctrl+Enter.

So the confirm seems to work, it's just what happens next that doesn't? Can you confirm what shortcuts you have in here?

Oh, and the problem persists whether I have "Re-send draft and translated segments" in the DeepL settings checked or unchecked.

sorry, no, it doesn't. Tried that. The cursor does not even jump to the next line with ctrl+enter any more. Only the little "pen" symbol in the middle column changes to "checked".
This is a thread I created earlier, dedicated only to the mentioned problem.
I have managed to work around the problem by copying the untranslated remainder of my original document into a new document and starting a new project. Will have to copy the parts back together once translated. Not ideal, but at least now I have full functionality back. So weird.
This is why I am thinking that I could well have deactivated something inadvertedly.
Thanks, by the way, for actually replying at the weekend. I did not (and still don't) expect that. I can work with what I've got until Monday -- enjoy your Sunday, please!

What happens if you deactivate DeepL? Does Ctrl+Enter work when you only use a simple file-based TM?

Hi Daniel,

no, I am sorry. This has just happened again in another project. A third into the document, the AT function just stopped working.

Whether I use ctrl+enter or manually click into the next cell, the line will change to "active" (blue), but no translation suggestion appears. No apparent reason why this suddenly happens.

"Re-send draft and translated segments" IS checked in my DeepL settings.

Keyboard working fine; ctrl+shift+F2 works for entering an expression into my terminology database, and ctrl+enter works when I save a correction there.

Is there a Studio setting that I am still unaware of with which I can choose to (or not to) get a translation suggestion? Maybe I deactivated someting with a key shortcut without realising?

the DeepL plugin sometimes has issues and stops working. Unchecking the box "Re-send draft and translated segments" seems to solve most problems. (It does make sense to me that there is no "AT" symbol in the middle column if DeepL did not provide a translation.)
As for <CTRL>+<Enter>, this is so much a core function that I would look for reasons outside Trados Studio as to what might cause this. Maybe another running application has this keystroke assigned and "catches" it becore it arrives at Studio? Or the keyboard has a mechanical problem?
