For just finding a double space you do not need to utilize "espressioni regolari". This might be the cause for your problem. Try to deselect it and run the S&R again.

I just tested in my installation and the search for single space catches one space indeed. The search for double space (entered as space, no regex) does not work at all in my case. So there is indeed something wrong here.

BTW, using regex (\s\s) does not work either.

Issues here as well with Trados Studio 2022.

Sometimes it finds the double space:

Sometimes it finds combinations of 2 other characters.

Most of the time the double space is not highlighted (nothing seems to happen after clicking Find Next). Lydia Simplicio  may have a look as well.

As a workaround, you can use Advanced Filter Display to filter the segments with double spaces (I know, it’s not the same as replacing, but it heps):

Jesús Prieto I also thought of the Advanced Display Filter but that does not fix the need to replace and yes the lack of highlighting matches is a problem. 


Lorenza Valt I tried to reproduce but I could not. Perhaps my files were too simple. 3 lines 2 of which had double spaces on target.
May I test using your files? OrJesús Prieto could you pass me something?

Also as a counter test, would you mind trying the SDLXLIFF toolkit that will support you in a search and replace. Would be nice to see if it also finds a group of characters or perhaps give you a reliable find/replace while we continue testing this in Studio.

I created a small .docx file using the contents of this page (https://www.rws.com/it/localization/) and imported it into Studio. Double space search is still not working

Hi - hope you're having a good start to the New Year too, apart from this issue!

One question - I may be missing something, but why are you using this method to search for double spaces?  I would be inclined to use Verification:

It doesn't immediately replace the double spaces it finds, but flags them and allows you to fix them later, as you review the errors.  Does that give you the same problem?

I did find an old item for development that seems to relate to the accuracy of the find/replace but I will get the teams to double check and review.


In the meantime the SDLXLIFF toolkit I mentioned earlier works perfectly
