How are you trying to apply this?  Are you using an app from thee AppStore for this - Apply Studio Project Template for example?  If not then take a look at your File -> Options -> Language Pairs and see how many language pairs are in there?

It could be that you had the trial (which is a Professional version) and went through some training and as a result once your Freelance version kicked in it doesn't like the fact you have too many language pairs in here.  So now remove the ones you don't need.

One of the differences between Freelance and Professional is the number of languages you can have in your project at one time so if your template contains more you won't be able to create the project until you remove some.

Appreciate your fast response. I am using a local edition of the Trados Studio software (Windwos 11), no app from some store of any sort.

I do only have one languagde pair:

As mentioned, it is also the only languagde I work with (Danish).

Can you elaborate a little on what you meant by "Cannot apply default project template"?  What exactly are you doing when you see this message?

Yes, sure. It is the error message that I get after the following steps:

1. Launch Trados Studio 2022.
2. I am placed directly in the Projects overview
3. 
4. I press the "New Project" button:

6. The error message apperes in front of the Create a New Project window:

Thank you for the screenshot... it maybe points to the problem... we'll see!

Can you go to File -> Setup -> Project Templates and take a look at what language pairs are in the "SDL Trados" template?  Since you are using that template to create your projects it might not be the same as the default in File -> Options.

ok - let's try a catch all approach first and if this doesn't help I'll log a case for the support team to take a look at the issue.

To do this just close Trados Studio and then rename this folder:

c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\

to c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17_old\

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

www.howtogeek.com/.../

Then restart Trados Studio and see if that helped?

With Trados Studio closed, I am renaming the Studio17 folder to Studio17_old, found at the path C:\Users\Michael Nilsson\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio.

Then, restarting Trados Studio again. I am presented to Trados Studio Setup:

Chose Default and press Finish.

At startup, I am asked to login. I do so. I get the following message: 

Not sure what that tells me, however, I restart TS and it's like running the program for the first time. Now I am trapped in the activation wizard, where I am logged in (Subsciption), but to not have any Perpetual license - which make sense, however, I am not able to continue without TS closes down..

Try deleting this file, then restart:

c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\Data\Studio.lic

I just checked your account since you are using subscription and I believe the problem is that the original subscription licence was bought on 31.01.2023, and it expired on 30.01.2024 without you renewing it.  I have no idea how you were able to use it at all before we reset, but it looks as though you need to renew.
