Can you run the QA Checker (F8) in such a way that only the segments filtered by the Advanced Display Filter are checked?

I have a couple of QA Regexes when working from German to English that check URLs from our website to do the following:

  1. Check that German URLs are translated (the Regex checks for URLs starting with https://redenwiruebergeld.fma.gv.at/ or https://www.fma.gv.at/ and checks that the target URL has "en/" after it.)
  2. Check that any URLs with xxxxxxxxxxxxx.fma.gv.at are found (where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the subdomain that points to SharePoint) are found.

I want to only check the segments with a DSI of "ADR". Currently I filter this in ADF and then hit F8 to run the QA Checker.

In very big documents it currently takes minutes to hours to handle it (as it checks the ensure document despite the ADF filter).

I have similar Regexes that also handle links to PDFs where the language "switch" is just before .pdf - i.e. all German filenames finish with .de.pdf and the English versions .en.pdf so also check that a "German" URL is translated with an "English" URL.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the version of Trados Studio you are using and any error messages you may have encountered during the QA process.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello!

To run the QA Checker (F8) in Trados Studio so that it only checks the segments filtered by the Advanced Display Filter (ADF), you can follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Ensure that you have set up your Advanced Display Filter to only show the segments you want to check. You mentioned filtering for segments with a DSI of "ADR," so make sure this filter is applied correctly.

**Step 2:** After applying the ADF, you can run the QA Checker by pressing F8. However, it's important to note that the QA Checker may still process the entire document, which can lead to longer processing times, especially in large documents.

**Step 3:** To optimize the QA process, consider creating specific QA Regex rules that target only the segments you are interested in. This can help reduce the time taken for the QA Checker to run.

**Step 4:** If you find that the QA Checker is still checking segments outside of your ADF filter, you may want to check the settings in the QA Checker to ensure that it is configured to respect the filters applied.

**Step 5:** If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the RWS Community for additional insights or checking the RWS AppStore for any plugins that might enhance the filtering capabilities of the QA Checker.

By following these steps, you should be able to streamline your QA process and focus on the segments that matter most.

IMO the most simple solution: filter with advanced display filter, lock all segments. Now filter by unlocked segments, change status to "Sign-off rejected" and lock. Filter with advanced display filter and unlock all segments. When you tell the QA checker to ignore locked segments, you will achieve what you want.

I don’t think it’s possible to run the QA only in the filtered segments (unless you lock the segments you want to skip as Jerzy suggests).

If you have identified the regex rule causing problems, if you can you share it, I’ll have a look at it. I did a small check on a 1k-segments file, and I didn’t notice any added delay.

Regular Expressions settings window showing a description '_at > en en https', a RegEx source 'https:(a-z0-9_+.)at', and a RegEx target 'https:$1en'.

You can save your filters in the Advanced Display Filter, and then open each of them sequentially, and this works, but if there are many filters, it can be a pain to do that and you may end up skipping any of them.

Advanced Display Filter 2.0 window with filters applied. Source contains 'https:(a-z0-9_+.)at' and Target contains '(?!.*https:$1en).*$'. Regular Expression and Use Backreferences are checked.

  • Thanks  for this solution - and that RegEx is much more refined than mine!
