How to... Get help quickly in the SDL Community Technical forums
The SDL Community is a great place to get help and advice, with any questions and /or problems you may have with SDL products.
We have therefore compiled this short Wiki article with tips and tricks, to help you get the most out of your SDL Community.
Please note:
SDL utilises Single Sign On- Your SDL Community name will therefore appear exactly as it appears in your SDL account.
It is NOT necessary to post any personal account/activation code information in the community.
Using the community
If for instance, you are working as a translator or project manager and your main tool is SDL Trados Studio/MultiTerm, then the correct Community Product Group would be Translation Productivity
After selecting 'Translation Productivity' and selecting whether you wish to receive notifications...
...please select the most appropriate topic/forum
You can search existing posts (and answers)...
...or you can post your own question- (if a similar question has been posted- you will see these as you type)
When posting a question- the more detail you can provide the better.
Useful information could include which version of Studio you are using, along with the operating system(OS) /Word version and file types you are working with for instance.
You can add also add images-
And include the 'error stack' if you have one.
Replying to a post
When replying to a poster, please start typing their name beginning with '@' to ensure they are notified of your response.
If you wish to quote something that has been said previously - simply highlight the text and this will be carried over into your own reply-
Everyone who is subscribed to the particular 'Forum' will be notified and will see your post- thus increasing the chances that your question will be answered quickly.
Once you have received a suggestion which has helped resolve the problem- Please return to the thread and mark this as a Verified Answer.
This assures other users the solution suggested has helped resolve the problem.
And now the DONT's- well just three of them really...
DO NOT respond to a post that has been marked as verified (green header) with a new question - Please open a new thread.
DO NOT respond to a post that is more than 7-10 days old (please open a new thread).
DO NOT post multiple topics/issues in the same post- please open a new thread for each issue/question.
