How to... Get help quickly in the SDL Community Technical forums
The SDL Community is a great place to get help and advice, with any questions and /or problems you may have with SDL products.
We have compiled a short Dos and Don'ts list so you can get the help you need as quickly as possible.
Please scroll down to the bottom of this Wiki for some tips and tricks to ensure a sucessful posting and a quick response.
DO make sure you are accessing the correct forum as questions/responses may otherwise be unecessarily delayed.
If for instance, you work as a translator or project manager and your main tool is SDL Trados Studio/MultiTerm, then the correct forum would be Translation Productivity
After selecting 'Translation Productivity' and selecting whether you wish to receive notifications...
...now select the most appropriate topic/forum
You can search existing posts (and answers)
Or you can post your own question-
Now you have TWO options-
1) you can either start typing your question... If a similar question has been asked before then you will see these below.
Just click on the most appropriate to see if a solution has been suggested.
or
2) Ask your own question
Now once you are finished - simply click POST
If you are replying to a post it is important that you notify the person/persons you are reply to...
Click reply and then proceed as follows-
If you dont see the name, or there are too many options, please try typing the surname first-
By doing this- you can be assured that the person is notified of the comment/reply and is likely to respond.
PLEASE NOTE:
Everyone who is subscribed to the particular 'Forum' will be notified and will see your post- thus increasing the chances that your question will be answered quickly.
You can also filter in the forums and help others if you wish.
And finally....
Once you have received a suggestion which has helped resolve the problem- Please return to the thread and mark this as a Verified Answer.
This assures others that the solution worked for them.
And now the DONT's- well just three of them really when you post a question-
DO NOT respond to a post that has been marked as verified (green header) with a new question - Please open a new thread.
DO NOT respond to a post that is more than 7-10 days old (please open a new thread).
DO NOT post multiple topics/issues in the same post- please open a new thread for each issue/question.
