01. How to start a Trados Freelance or Trados Go subscription

You can start a subscription for Trados Freelance or Trados Go from this page: https://www.trados.com/pricing/freelance-translators/

You select a plan for one of the two products, and you have a 14 day risk-free period during which you can try out the full features of Trados Go or Trados Freelance to see if the product meets your needs. If it's not for you, you can cancel anytime within the 14 days. Otherwise, you will be automatically charged after the trial's expiration for the plan you selected.

We offer 3 subscription plans for both products:

- the Monthly subscription (Monthly payment – Monthly contract) means you pay each month the amount mentioned

- the Annual subscription plan (Monthly payment – Annual contract) means you commit for a year to pay each month the amount mentioned

- the Annual Saver subscription plan (Annual payment – Annual contract) is a one time payment for a year with the freelance support contract included

This short guide is designed to help you, step by step on how to install RWS Trados Studio TRIAL and use the free help/support resources available to you.

Here are a few tips to help you get started.

We recommend that you use either Chrome or Firefox as your default browser.

You should have the latest version of IE installed (essential for background purposes ONLY)

You will need to have Windows 10 minimum installed or recommended Windows 11

When using an AntiVirus (AV) software- we strongly recommend you add both RWS Trados Studio and MultiTerm to the antivirus ‘exceptions list’

You MUST be logged on to the computer as ADMIN

Trados Studio 2024 is ‘hardwired’ to install on the C:\ drive. Please do not attempt to install on an external drive as this may cause issues with trying to license the product.

Once you are ready to begin the download, go to the trial form https://www.trados.com/product/studio/trial/ and fill it in.

Then you should receive an e-mail with the installation link.

Always check you are downloading from an RWS website. Our software is NOT available from any other sources.

You will normally also see a warning, as the download is an executable file!

In FireFox- the process is a little different

Next allow the program to make changes and then fill out your correct details.

Then this simply means that certain .msi components did not install correctly

Simply navigate to this address on your PC and double-click the installers to start the manual installation.

Once the installation is complete- you can now select the Sample Files

You can use these sample files to simply test Studio, understand the main features and help you prepare for the certification courses if you wish to take them.

PLEASE NOTE

The Trados Studio Trial resources contains a host of guides and tutorials to help you get started. These are available in the Welcome view.

Congratulations- you have successfully installed Trados Studio and can now start using the software.

When you start Trados for the first time you will see the following message

If you click Continue trial you can continue to use the trial for the indicated remaining period.

If you click Purchase license, you will be taken to the online shop, where you will be able to buy a license/subscription.

If you ever owned a subscription, please visit the renewal section and fill in the form and you will be contacted regarding a renewal.

If you click Activate- you have the option of activating a purchased license. If you click on Activate by mistake, please restart Trados and click Continue trial.
