API Documentation

Hi,
I am new to SDL community. I need to integrate an application with SDL api's.
I found 2 links for the api documentation one for sandbox and one after login commercial account. Not sure which one to follow.

Please find the links below:

  • Hi ,

Can you tell us what you are trying to achieve... or what products you wish to integrate to? That would help us point you in the right direction.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul Filkin,

    Thanks for your attention.
I will be uploading products data in the form of xml files. Which are needed to be translated into 13 languages from English. Out of these 13 languages 6 will be human translatable and rest will be machine translatable.
  • Hi ,

Thanks for this explanation. Can you perhaps elaborate a little more... so how do you intend to manage these projects? The reason I ask is because we have several products that can support this kind of workflow out of the box and there is no need to use the APIs at all.

SDL Trados Studio - desktop product that would allow a Project manager to create multilingual projects for XML files, pretranslate them using Machine Translation where appropriate and also manage a human translation process. Offers desktop APIs if you want to automate the creation of projects from a shared folder perhaps?

SDL Trados GroupShare - a server solution offering a more automated and centralised workflow so you could create multilingual projects, pretranslate them using Machine Translation where appropriate and also manage a human translation process. Offers REST APIs if you want to automate project creation with a content management system perhaps?

SDL WorldServer - offers similar functionality to SDL Trados GroupShare but with more out of the box functionality for custom workflows.

The SDL Language Cloud stuff you are looking at is primarily Machine Translation, so it would be useful to know how you intended to manage the overall workflow. If you do not have a Translation Management system of your own then this might not be the most appropriate solution given the ones above all integrate with SDL Language Cloud out of the box.

    Regards
