Resolution:
The provided hotfix remedies the issue and the workflow steps are assigned to the correct group or user.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-10641 | Installing Microsoft security updates may prevent SDL TMS from working

Symptoms:
Installing the security update for Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB4338419, KB4338420) can prevent users from being able to access the SDL TMS user interface. Despite being able to log in normally, subsequent pages result in a server-side error. On some servers, the incompatibility is seen when starting the web site in which case the entire UI is inaccessible.

Explanation:
The security update is a remediation for an "elevation of privilege" vulnerability in the .NET Framework which could allow an attacker to elevate their user rights level. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker would first have to access the local computer, and then run a malicious program. This update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how .NET Framework enables COM objects. To learn more about this vulnerability, see Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures CVE-2018-8202. Changing the way in which COM objects are invoked has a direct impact on the SDL TMS user interface.

Resolution:
The provided hotfix changes the way in which the SDL TMS application pools are configured in IIS which, in turn, allows SDL TMS to continue working on all servers that have the security update applied.

Symptoms:
Switching the workflow for a task in SDL TMS could cause a "duplicate key" database error which would send the task to recovery.

Explanation:
This occurred due to a race condition on the database procedure responsible for switching the task workflow.

Resolution:
The procedure for switching the task workflow has been amended to ensure that it does not encounter a race condition during execution.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-6890 | Fuzzy word count for 75-84% and 95-99% in Studio Analysis are interchanged

SDL Trados Studio packages downloaded from SDL TMS would sometimes have the wrong word counts in the fuzzy match bands when the package was opened in SDL Trados Studio.

Explanation:
This error occurred when the SDL TMS database query returned the fuzzy match band word counts in the wrong order.

Resolution:
The procedure for retrieving fuzzy band word counts has been amended to ensure that the counts are always returned in the correct order.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-9846 | Unable to edit a user without changing the username to a valid e-mail address

Symptoms:
After upgrading to SDL TMS 12.0, it is no longer possible to edit a user without being forced to change the username to a valid email address.

Explanation:
This feature was implemented by design to help users migrate to the new SDL ID single sign-on functionality available in SDL TMS 12.0. However, in response to a number of customers raising issues with this feature, we have released this hotfix.

Resolution:
This hotfix introduces a new system setting in SDL TMS 12.0 that determines whether SDL TMS 12.0 will force the username to be an e-mail address when adding or editing users. The setting can be found in the Password And Security Settings section and is labelled as Username is email address.

Symptoms:
After upgrading to SDL TMS 12.0, enabling SDL ID and configuring the integration, some implementations were failing to access the SDL TMS login screen.

Explanation:
This issue occurred when the URL for the SDL ID server contained an extra forward slash which wasn't being handled correctly when constructing the correct URL for the login page.

Resolution:
URLs are now constructed correctly regardless of the presence or absence of the trailing forward slash on the SDL ID URL.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-9863 | Editing a Configuration takes a long time to load

Symptoms:
When attempting to edit a configuration that is used for multiple jobs, SDL TMS was taking a long time to open the page and, in some circumstances, the page would time out.

Explanation:
The database query used when opening the page for editing a Configuration was excessively scanning a database view, therefore causing the slow performance of the query.

Resolution:
The associated query has been rewritten to ensure that it performs well, regardless of how many actions are active on the configuration page.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-9723 | Sending a verification email when linking a TMS user to an SDL ID account

Symptoms:
When attempting to link an unverified SDL ID to an existing SDL TMS user account, SDL TMS did not provide the capability to send the verification link to the user.

Explanation:
This functionality was not considered initially for the release of SDL TMS 12.0 on the assumption that when the TMS account were linked, its corresponding SDL ID had been verified already.

Resolution:
Users attempting to link their SDL TMS user account to an unverified SDL ID now have the option to get the verification link sent to their email address, which will allow them to complete the linking process.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-9780 | Poor performance when editing attributes

Symptoms:
When editing an attribute, SDL TMS would sometimes stop responding and force a reboot of IIS in order to bring the website back online.

Explanation:
This occurred because editing an attribute also checked where that attribute might be in use. Attributes that are used extensively were returning a very large data set for the "in use" information, which was then causing the server to consume too much memory.

Resolution:
The procedure for retrieving information about where the attribute is in use has been optimized to ensure that the returned data is not too large to cause the server performance degradation.

SDL TMS 12.0 | CRQ-9346 | Terms containing ampersand characters are not displayed in the translation editor

Symptoms:
Terminology entries containing ampersand characters were not being shown in the translation editor in SDL TMS even thought the exact term was present in the text for translation.

Explanation:
This issue was caused by a mismatch in how the ampersand character was being stored within the translation segment and in the terminology cache.

Resolution:
Terms containing ampersand characters are now stored consistently and these terms will be shown in the translation editor when the segment for translation contains the corresponding term.

SDL TMS 12.0 | SDL TMS 12.0 Release Announcement (April 2018)

We are pleased to announce the general availability of SDL TMS 12.0. This major version release delivers support for single sign-on with SDL ID as well as the first implementation of SDL Online Editor for SDL TMS. See below for some highlights.

Single Sign-on with SDL ID
SDL is introducing a new single identity for accessing SDL’s products and services. This new capability is called SDL ID and allows users to manage a single account with just one set of credentials. SDL TMS 12.0 provides support for users logging in using SDL ID once they have linked their existing SDL TMS user account to their SDL ID. See the release notes and the SDL TMS 12.0 documentation for more information on this new feature.

SDL Online Editor
SDL Online Editor is an online tool which you can use to translate and review tasks from SDL TMS. SDL Online Editor is a scalable, cost-effective component that combines the core capabilities of a modern desktop translation tool with a friendly interface designed to boost productivity and to ensure a positive user experience. By configuring an organization in SDL TMS 12.0, translation can be done using this new editor. See the release notes and the SDL TMS 12.0 documentation for more information on this new feature.

SDL Commute for SDL Trados Studio
The plug-in that allows translators and reviewers to access their SDL TMS inbox from within SDL Trados Studio has been updated based on feedback from the user community. Consult the release notes for more details.

SDL TMS Inbox
Based on feedback on the new browser-based inbox in SDL TMS, this release includes several fixes and enhancements which are detailed in the release notes.

TAUS DQF Integration
The integration between SDL TMS 12.0 and the TAUS Dynamic Quality Framework has been improved in this release to ensure that all information from SDL TMS is posted to TAUS where users can see the metrics that allow them to track productivity and quality of translations.
