CRQ-4832
Symptoms:
Errors during pre-processing could result in SDLXLIFF files being replaced by BAK files in the file folder on the SDL TMS application server.

Explanation:
When the error was encountered, the application code was not reverting the temporary BAK files back to SDLXLIFF.

Resolution:
The SDLXLIFF files are now correctly restored if any errors are encountered.

CRQ-13716
Symptoms:
Errors during pre-processing can cause an incorrect wordcount.

Explanation:
When the pre-processing step was re-tried, the word count was not being correctly updated in the database.

Resolution:
Word counts are now correctly updated even if the pre-processing steps have to be re-tried.

CRQ-13688
Symptoms:
Importing a file into a translation memory can fail due to a primary key constraint.

Explanation:
The translation memory import logic was trying to insert a new segment into the translation memory rather than updating the one that was already there.

Resolution:
Translation memory import now correctly updates the existing segment.

CRQ-13746
Symptoms:
Reversed indexed language pairs in the translation memory do not get the correct leverage.

Explanation:
The logic for querying the translation memory database for language pairs where the index has been reversed was not functioning correctly.

Resolution:
The logic for reversed language pairs has been amended to correctly search for the appropriate segment in the translation memory.

SDL TMS 12.2 | Cumulative Update 12

We are pleased to announce the availability of this cumulative update that contains all fixes from previous releases and the following additional fixes:

CRQ-13516
Symptoms:
The organization level filtering on the Project tab is not retaining the previous selection.

Explanation:
The organization filter was not being correctly stored for the user's session. This resulted in the filter reverting to a different organization when the tab was re-selected.

Resolution:
The selected organization is now correctly stored and the filter will be applied appropriately.

CRQ-13478
Symptoms:
Unable to create SDL TMS jobs using TM attributes.

Explanation:
The TM attribute functionality, which was updated in SDL TMS 12.2, was incorrectly retrieving the available attribute values in the translation memory.

Resolution:
The TM attributes are now retrieved correctly and can be used when creating a new SDL TMS job.

CRQ-13457
Symptoms:
Segments are not generated correctly in SDL TMS TM Maintenance.

Explanation:
When connecting to a translation memory using a TMS connection, the source and target segments were not being retrieved correctly when there were multiple translations for the same source text.

Resolution:
The SDL TMS TM service in SDL TMS 12.2 now correctly retrieves the source and target segments for display in SDL TMS TM Maintenance.

CRQ-13343
Symptoms:
Content Collector logs are not being created in the configured folder.

Explanation:
As part of an initiative to enable long filenames in all SDL TMS components, the log folder was not being correctly retrieved in Content Collector.

Resolution:
The log folder is now correctly retrieved and the log files will be created in the correct location.

CRQ-12639
Symptoms:
Overlapping terms in the source text are not being correctly highlighted in the online editor.

Explanation:
Overlapping terms were being highlighted twice and therefore caused a display corruption.

Resolution:
For any terms that overlap, the correct highlighting is now implemented.

SDL TMS 12.2 | Cumulative Update 11

Symptoms:
Translation memories originally created in one language direction and then subsequently indexed in the opposite direction do not return the correct results.

Explanation:
The logic which switches the language direction in order to perform the search was not working correctly.

Resolution:
SDL TMS now detects when a language direction has been reversed since the original translation memory creation and adjusts the searching algorithm appropriately.

CRQ-12375
Symptoms:
SDL TMS TM Maintenance does not support TLS versions higher than 1.0.

Explanation:
The SDL TMS TM Maintenance desktop application was not configured to work with TLS versions higher than 1.0.

Resolution:
SDL TMS TM Maintenance build 2011.0.9092 or later now support TLS versions 1.1 and 1.2. Note that this fix requires a full install of SDL TMS 12.2 CU 11 rather than a patch installation as the updated application is only included in the full install.

SDL TMS 12.2 | Cumulative Update 10

CRQ-13422, CRQ-13548
Symptoms:
The UpdateTm workflow step could time out or fail with primary key violations.

Explanation:
Index information was being retrieved for every segment updated into the translation memory. This caused an excessive overhead which could result in a time-out. In addition, some translation memories had incorrect entries in the "source file" field with multiple values for a single segment which were violating the primary key.

Resolution:
The translation memory index is now updated in a timely manner and any index violations are corrected as part of the update.

CRQ-13537, CRQ-13539
Symptoms:
Context-sensitive translation memories were not returning the correct 100% matches from the translation memory.

Explanation:
For translation memories that have multiple 100% matches for a segment, the translation memory was not necessarily returning the best candidate according to the last modified date and any formatting differences.

Resolution:
The translation memory now returns the best possible match from the list of all candidates.

CRQ-12624
Symptoms:
SDL ID users are not always able to log in to SDL TMS.

Explanation:
On the login page, not all SDL ID users were being correctly identified and therefore taken to the SDL ID login.

Resolution:
SDL ID users are recognized correctly and sent to SDL ID for authentication before being logged in to SDL TMS.

Symptoms:
More issues discovered with the leverage and stability of context-sensitive translation memories since the release of SDL TMS 12.2.

Explanation:
Some segments in context-sensitive translation memories were not being retrieved correctly causing some leverage loss, missing segments in translation memory exports and files going to recovery. In addition, the translation memory index was not necessarily created or maintained correctly causing some leverage loss.

Resolution:
The translation memory index is now created, maintained and searched correctly to maximise leverage when applying the translation memory.

CRQ-8965
Symptoms:
Tasks that have been through a convert step in the workflow do not correctly get recorded as outsourced.

Explanation:
The change of file type triggered by the convert step meant that the database record for the task was not found when updating the outsourcing information.

Resolution:
The change of content type is now handled correctly when outsourcing the task.

CRQ-10052
Symptoms:
SDL TMS does not segment locked tags correctly when using SRX files.

Explanation:
SDLXLIFF files are segmented differently to the legacy ITD format and the SRX is not necessarily applicable to the SDLXLIFF format. SDL recommends using the more modern Language Resource Template approach for SDL TMS.

Resolution:
Using Language Resource Templates will ensure that the content it segmented correctly. Alternatively, a small change to the SRX file will allow locked tags to be segmented correctly.

Symptoms:

CRQ-4707
Symptoms:
Some files created on January 1st do not display the modified date correctly in the file browser if the user is in a timezone that is behind the timezone of the server.

Explanation:
When subtracting the timezone, dates going back to the previous year were not being correctly adjusted.

Resolution:
Timezone differences are now handled correctly in the file browser.

SDL TMS 12.2 | Cumulative Update 7

CRQ-13330
Symptoms:
The SDL TMS Archiver service fails to properly process jobs that contain invalid filename characters in the job name.

Explanation:
The job name was being used in the filename of the archived file and this would generate an error on the filing system.

Resolution:
Job names are now sanitized to remove invalid filename characters before attempting to save them to the filing system.

CRQ-13288
Symptoms:
Publishing to SDL Trados GroupShare 2015 is no longer possible.

Explanation:
The package format sent to SDL Trados GroupShare was using a 64-bit zip format which is not supported by SDL Trados GroupShare 2015.

Resolution:
The package format has been reverted to a simpler zip format to allow it to be processed by SDL Trados GroupShare 2015.

CRQ-13232
Symptoms:
Uploading an ITD file in SDL TMS 12.2 may fail due to encoding changes.

Explanation:
SDL TMS 12.2 made a small change to how encodings and languages are handled. As a consequence, this change triggered this issue with ITD files being uploaded.

Resolution:
Encodings are now handled correctly when uploading an ITD file to SDL TMS 12.2.

CRQ-10680
Symptoms:
Users are unable to use the checkbox for a project attribute as the value can't be unchecked.

Explanation:
This issue is related to submitting HTML forms back to the server, namely, unchecked boxes are not sent as part of the data.

Resolution:
An alternative solution for submitting unchecked boxes to the server has been implemented.

CRQ-13221, CRQ-13282, CRQ-13297
Symptoms:
A number of issues were identified when using context-enabled translation memories in SDL TMS 12.2.

Explanation:
The TM optimization that formed part of SDL TMS 12.2 enhancements introduced some issues with the way that context-sensitive translation memories were applied and updated.

Resolution:
The above issues have been rectified to ensure that context-sensitive translation memories function the same as in previous SDL TMS versions.

CRQ-13174
Symptoms:
Users who have an email address as their username and also an additional email address in the "Also Notify" field are unable to reset their password.

Explanation:
As part of the password reset feature, SDL TMS was incorrectly using the "Also Notify" email address instead of the username.

Resolution:
Password reset will now use the correct email address for users who are using their email address as their username.

CRQ-13187
Symptoms:
Files uploaded on some pages in SDL TMS 12.2 were not being processed correctly.

Explanation:
The file upload mechanism in SDL TMS 12.2 had been overhauled and some of the pages stopped working correctly.

Resolution:
File uploads are now processed correctly from all the pages where it is possible to upload a file to SDL TMS.

CRQ-13236, CRQ-13222
Symptoms:
Updating the TM with segments containing only special characters could cause the UpdateTM workflow step to fail to recovery.

Explanation:
The algorithm to create a unique index for these segments was generating a duplicate index which cause an error when trying to insert the values into the translation memory database.

Resolution:
The index generator no longer produces duplicate keys.

CRQ-11562
Symptoms:
Sending multiple messages through the API to move a task on from Translated Content Retrieval to Complete could cause a silent failure and subsequent files are not moved.

Explanation:
The duplicate message generated a failure because the file was no longer at the correct stage when the second message was processed.

Resolution:
Multiple messages for the same file are now ignored so that the file is only processed once.

CRQ-13209
Symptoms:
Clicking the arrow to display the job description in the inbox had no effect on the user interface and the description was still hidden.

Explanation:
The JavaScript to show the description was looking for the wrong element to display.

Resolution:
The JavaScript now locates the correct element and shows the description as required.

Explanation:
Empty translation were not handled correctly in the translation memory update procedures.

Empty translations are now handled correctly when updating a translation memory.

CRQ-11659
Symptoms:
Running a concordance search on a large translation memory using common words takes a long time to return results.

Explanation:
Too many matches were being returned from the translation memory causing increased processing time.

Resolution:
The number of returned matches is now truncated to ensure that the performance is optimal.

CRQ-12899
Symptoms:
When attempting to reset a user password, no reset confirmation prompt is displayed and the password cannot be reset.

Explanation:
This issue was introduced with the release of SDL TMS 12.2 as part of the user account security changes.

Resolution:
Password reset is now working as expected.

CRQ-6961
Symptoms:
SDL TMS is not handling embedded content in JSON files.

Explanation:
The embedded content processor was not being invoked for the content inside the JSON file.

Resolution:
The file filter has been enhanced to respect the embedded content processor defined in the file type settings.

CRQ-13021
Symptoms:
Unable to download a translation memory from SDL TMS 12.2.

Explanation:
The path to the download folder was incorrect on the SDL TMS server.

Resolution:
The server path to the download folder is now correct and translation memories can be downloaded.

CRQ-12961
Symptoms:
Translation memory import does not work for legacy SDLX MDB format.

Explanation:
The MDB file was not being closed correctly as part of the import process which resulted in a "file in use" error during import.

Resolution:
The MDB file is correctly closed and the import can process without error.

CRQ-11374
Symptoms:
In SDL TMS 12.1, the ability to modify the stage of an inactive job was removed meaning that tasks could no longer be moved from "Complete" back to "Translated Content Retrieval".

Explanation:
This was by design to prevent accidental updates to inactive jobs. Subsequent reports showed that this was an often used feature.

Resolution:
The ability to move jobs from Complete back to a previous step in the workflow has been restored.

CRQ-12855, CRQ-12862
Symptoms:
In SDL TMS 12.2, the UpdateTM workflow stage would sometimes cause the task to go to recovery when the only difference in the translation was whitespace.

Explanation:
When the only difference between an existing segment and a new translation was whitespace, the update to the translation memory was failing.

Resolution:
Whitespace differences are now handled correctly when updating the translation memory.

Explanation:
As part of the re-worked logic for SDL TMS 12.2, the segment score was not updated correctly even though the original TM score was correctly registered.

Resolution:
TM matches in ITD file types are now recorded correctly.

CRQ-12016
Symptoms:
Formatting tags generated in Studio are not converted for fuzzy matched segments.

Explanation:
This issue was introduced in earlier versions of SDL TMS as part of a previous hotfix.

Resolution:
Additional formatting tags are now handled correctly when processing the segments in the files and from the TM.

SDL TMS 12.2 | Cumulative Update 3

CRQ-4722
Symptoms:
Archiver does not compress the legacy job archive folder if the zip already exists.

Explanation:
The SDL TMS plug-in that is responsible for archiving jobs did not handle the case where the zip may already exist.

Resolution:
The plug-in now deals with the existence of the zip file and removes it before continuing normally.

CRQ-12643
Symptoms:
Pre-processing can get throw a System.OutOfMemory error causing tasks to go to Recovery.

Explanation:
This issue was introduced in SDL TMS 12.2 as part of the changes made to improve the performance of TM operations. TM segments containing the string "<<" would cause SDL TMS 12.2 to exhibit this error.

Resolution:
The TM apply logic has been corrected to deal with segments that contain this particular string.

CRQ-6444
Symptoms:
Pre-processing sometimes fails to send a task to Exception or Recovery even though part of the operation failed.

Explanation:
Combined pre-processing and split pre-processing were behaving differently when an error was encountered.

Resolution:
Combined pre-processing now has the same behaviour as split pre-processing when a file fails to process.

Following on from the release of SDL TMS 12.2, we are pleased to announce the availability of the first cumulative update that contains the following fixes:

CRQ-11901
Symptoms:
The SDL TMS translation provider plugin for SDL Trados Studio 2017 is not able to connect to the SDL TMS 12.2 TMs.

Explanation:
The translation provider was still configured to connect to TMs hosted on SDL TMS 12.1 or earlier.

Resolution:
The new plugin available in the My Downloads section allows users to connect to TMs hosted on SDL TMS 12.2 from SDL Trados Studio 2017.

CRQ-12426
Symptoms:
Concordance searches in SDL TMS 12.2 are returned with a red vertical bar instead of the first character.

Explanation:
This issue was introduced in SDL TMS 12.2 as part of the changes made to improve the performance of TM operations.

Resolution:
Concordance searching has been corrected to return the matches in the correct format.

CRQ-11587
Symptoms:
Usernames and passwords with apostrophes are not accepted in SDL TMS 12.2.

Explanation:
This is a defect that was introduced in a previous version of SDL TMS that came to prominence with the advent of support for SDL ID when users who have an apostrophe in their email address were not able to log in with SDL ID. As part of an earlier security initiative to prevent SQL injection, apostrophes were replaced with another character prior to login.

Resolution:
The replacement of the apostrophes has been removed and tests carried out to ensure that no vulnerabilities exist on the login page.

CRQ-12582
Symptoms:
Malformed TM segments and missing attribute values cause tasks to go to recovery.

Explanation:
As part of the TM optimization for SDL TMS 12.2, the segment processing was amended but did not then cater for potentially malformed segments that may already be in the TM.

Resolution:
The code to parse TM segments has been amended to be more tolerant of potentially malformed segments returned from the TM.

SDL TMS 12.2 | SDL TMS 12.2 Release Announcement (November 2018)

We are pleased to announce the general availability of SDL TMS 12.2. See below for some highlights of this minor version release.

Security
In a continuation of the security theme, SDL TMS 12.2 adds a number of new features to ensure the user accounts remain secure. These new features are inspired by existing standards and include:

Secured forgotten password
It is now possible to mandate that a user validates their identity with an SDL TMS administrator before being able to reset their password.
Password reuse restriction
A new option defines the period during which a user is not allowed to reuse a previous password.
Blocked password list
An organization can have a list of passwords that cannot be used.
Password reset at first login
When creating a user, the administrator can force the user to change their password on first login.
Minimum and maximum login times
To prevent automated logins, an administrator can configure the minimum and maximum time allowed on the SDL TMS login page.
Failed logins limit
The number of failed logins before a user is locked out of the system is now a configurable option on the system settings page.
Automatic unused account deactivation
User accounts that have been inactive for some time can now be automatically disabled.

Unless noted otherwise, the new settings are available on the system settings page.

Infrastructure
SDL TMS 12.2 now supports Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft SQL Server 2017..

Performance
As part of a previous release, SDL TMS could be configured to use the system database for message queuing, as an alternative to the original Microsoft Message Queue. This option is now configured automatically, and SDL TMS 12.2 will use the system database for processing messages. This allows for easier prioritization and manipulation of messages, as well as making redundant the legacy QManager service.

In addition to the message queue, SDL TMS 12.2 has been "tuned up" to enable faster response times when using the web site and also to bring down the processing times of some key workflow stages such as Apply TM and Update TM.
