Question on xrefs for users of Oxygen editors and Publication Manager

Hi,
If I add a local xref to a topic in XMetaL, there is a PI added e.g.

<xref href="GUID-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx"><?xm-replace_text Topic Title Text?></xref>

This link text is then shown in Publication Manager HTML view to help the publisher review where xrefs are linking to.
However, if I add same local xref via Oxygen XML Author there is no PI added and the link text does not show in Publication Manager.
Is there any workaround for this so that the link text for cross reference added via Oxygen XML Author will show in Publication Manager?

Thanks in advance, Ann

  • Hi Ann,

The xml processing instruction <?wm-replace_text is coming from XMetaL (hence the xm) prefix. So it is XMetaL specific behavoir and for ease of use 10+ years ago the Tridion Docs preview started rendering it if other dynamic Link Text resolving was unavailable. Remember, it is a place holder, it will not be updated if the link topic title (or similar) changes, and it typically is not used in downstream publishing. It is just ease of use while editing in XMetaL to my knowledge.

How XMetaL and Oxygen work together on this, or if there is an alternative is uniknown to me. Google tells me you are tyring to find that out on https://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=65060

    Best wishes,
    Dave
