This update introduces version compare, an updated translation job editor, and a set of UX improvements that reflect ongoing customer feedback. We've also extended the UI Extensions framework with new capabilities. Let me zoom in on these features in more detail. Version compare One of the headline features in this update is version compare. Editors can now compare components, pages and other items across versions and blueprint levels side by side, making it much easier to understand what changed and when. By default, only properties and fields that differ between versions are shown, keeping the view focused and readable. For those working with rich text, there's a toggle between rendered and raw XHTML views. Item links such as components, schemas and keywords remain navigable within the comparison view, and options can be filtered by name, version or URI for quick access when many versions are available. Version compare also supports comparison between localized organizational items, such as folders and structure groups, and their parent items. From the comparison view, you can open, roll back to, or delete a historical version directly, and we've improved performance for items containing large blocks of text. Examples version compare Translation job editor An updated Translation job editor (which can be opened in a separate tab) supporting editing of custom metadata. Instead of the popup in the previous version, it will now open the full-page editor. We added the "Items to translate" tab in the editor. This list updates dynamically in response to changes in the check boxes on the General tab. Example Translation job editor Example showing updated editor which enables adding metadata to translation management job Enhancements and updates to the UI Extensions framework Based on customer feedback, we've added two new extension points in this update. The first allows you to add, remove or reorder editor tabs. Some teams have a preferred tab order or want to hide tabs that aren't relevant to their workflow, and this is now possible through the extensions framework. The second introduces support for fully customizing multi-value fields, giving developers control over how these fields are rendered and behave in the editor. Together, these additions give customers more flexibility in shaping the editing experience for their users. Additional improvements and updates In this update we introduce the following enhancements and bug fixes. Accessibility updates: improved contrast, spacing and focus states UX improvements based upon customer feedback, such as: User-resizable keyword fields Localized descendants toggle: Option to show all localized descendants Breadcrumb navigation: Added breadcrumb, with support for navigation, to all Experience Space item editors Renamed 'Resolved items tab' and associated URL to "Items to translate“ Increased space for displaying error messages in translation notifications Custom application setting to enable the possibility to create/update multimedia components that use external URLs Group membership visibility For more information see Changes introduced in Tridion Sites 10.1 Update 3

Blog Post: MCP Server (Early Release) for Tridion Sites Content Manager is now available!

This early-access release gives customers the opportunity to explore the MCP server’s capabilities for Content Manager in lower environments, gain hands‑on experience, and provide valuable feedback to help shape future development. Key Use Cases in This Release Help users with minimal Tridion Sites knowledge create content quickly through AI‑assisted prompts Perform bulk retrieval and modification of items, enabling large-scale content maintenance Publish many items at once after updating content Create and update pages and manage the components on those pages Classify items in bulk using existing categories Create bundles and start workflows for review Localize and update items in child publications Additional Supported Operations Renaming items Moving items to another folder Creating folders Performing advanced searches Reverting the last change made to items How to Get Started Install the Sites CM MCP Server on your Tridion Sites environment. Contact your system administrator if needed. Use an AI Agent configured to connect to the Sites CM MCP server. Examples: Claude Desktop, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, or any other agent that supports adding MCP servers. In this article, I use Claude Desktop as an example. Configuration instructions for Claude Desktop are available in the official documentation. When Claude Desktop connects to the Sites MCP, you will be asked to sign in to Tridion Sites. Now you’re ready to explore what the MCP server can do. Try starting with simple prompts such as: “Who am I in Tridion?” to see your username and group memberships. “List Tridion Publications” to view the publications you can access. More Advanced Scenarios For more complex tasks, we recommend adding custom instructions in Claude Desktop: Create a project, e.g., “My Tridion Project.” Add additional instructions for this project (examples are provided in the documentation). Importing Content As an editor, I received a task to create several product entries in Tridion. The marketing team had already prepared the content and shared it with me via SharePoint. Copying everything manually would be time-consuming, especially for larger volumes. Instead, I used Claude Desktop. The only requirement is that Claude Desktop must be connected both to the Sites CM MCP and to the SharePoint MCP. I used the following prompt: “Create products in Tridion; read the content for these products from the OneDrive ‘Products’ folder.” Here you are, products are imported as components into Tridion. Bulk Content Improvements We often hear from customers that they want to improve existing content, making it more readable, fixing grammar issues, optimizing it for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), performing find-and-replace, generating summaries, etc. Let me show you updating the content for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). The prompt is “Read the products from Products folder. For each product improve the content to follow GEO (Generative Engine Optimizations) rules. Save the updated content back to Tridion.” Here is the result: Before: (left side) After: (right side - improved content) Even though AI can create, refine, and improve content, a manual review is still recommended. Still, using AI for initial creation and updates saves valuable time for editors across your organization. Above are just couple of scenarios among of many others you can do with this Sites CM MCP server. You can now start exploring the Sites CM MCP server in your own organization. Contact CS or your account manager to obtain the MCP server distributable for installation in your Tridion Sites environment. We welcome your feedback and any additional pain points you believe this MCP server could help address. I would love to hear from you and collaborate on shaping future versions of the Sites CM MCP server. We are introducing customizable defaults and now also support page and component source preview, two additional extension points and some smaller enhancements. Let me zoom in on these features in more detail. Experience Space Translation management support in Experience Space One of the main features in this update is supporting translation management in Experience Space. The translation job queue is now accessible via the top menu and inherits filtering and sorting options which are also available in the other explorer views. For a selected job from the queue, the following panels are available: general, added items, resolved items and notifications (if applicable). The added items tab shows you all the added items and the resolved items panel (only available in Experience Space) which gives users insight into the actual resolved items. Notifications will be shown when a translation job is started and when it finishes. In line with activities and publishing actions, a badge will be displayed to alert the user when there is an update in case they miss it. Notifications will also be added to the message center. It is now also possible to save jobs in definition state in Experience Space. This will enable the user to add to or remove items from a previously created job. When selecting the option to translate, a modal will be presented with the option to create a new job or select an existing one if available. Customizable defaults We are introducing customizable defaults. Some default settings in the user interface might not align with customers' policy or preference. We are now providing a way to overwrite the default settings for all users with your own default. We've introduced a setting that configures item editors to open in a new tab on double-click. Application-wide custom defaults for the publishing dialog where you can determine if you want to set following options to true or false: Publish new content Include component links Include items in progress Include current publication Publishing priority Publish in child publications Target types: In general, we are saving user settings. For backwards compatibility we have added a custom default which clears the target type selection. By removing this property in the application settings, the user’s choice of target type is saved. Settings shown in the example screens below: Page and component source preview For pages and components, a tab was added where you can preview the source. This preview also contains a copy button in case you would like to share or review the source in more detail. New user interface extension points: "Help and more" and "Command right" We've implemented a new extension point to support customization of the 'Help and more' popup. One use case for this will be hiding the link to the Classic UI which some customers asked for. It can also be used for adding custom links, e.g., to additional documentation. We've also implemented an extension point to enable customers to hide native commands in the UI. This could be used programmatically, depending on context (e.g., user): completely remove a command, or disable the command for specific items. Removing/disabling a command will hide the corresponding toolbar buttons and context menu items. Additional improvements and updates In this update we introduce the following enhancements and bug fixes. We have extended workflow support in Experience Space, users can now select one or more activities and force finish the entire process or instead revert a workflow process We've addressed the following customer requests: Allow users to select items from multiple locations without having to re-open the item selector each time Ability to quickly remove multi-value fields Added copy URI action where applicable in the context menu Updated title of search results page including number of results Image rendition folders for ECL locations: thumbnails are now shown in Experience Space Content Manager has been enhanced to support the functionality mentioned above, along with several other updates, including: Core Service Rest Implemented routes to Classify, ReClassify and UnClassify for single item and batch items Implemented routes to perform operations with Application Data To support creating or editing workflow process definition using API we have added Get workflow script types and Get approval statuses The update method now automatically handles the check-out and check-in of versioned items OpenAPI Specification (OAS) now includes information about the API's authentication of bearer tokens provided by Tridion Access Management Support for unordered JSON metadata properties Fixed Data Pipeline Resolver to not resolve Components on inactive Pages For more information see Release Notes Tridion Sites 10.1 Update 2 .

I saw Nataliia do a demo of this and I almost fell out of my chair. One of the biggest challenges with content management dealing with complexity of getting new content into the proper place with the proper schemas. Even with the best UI it's a challenge. Now imagine a world where somebody shows up with a bunch of text files, images and other assets and tells you, "ok get this stuff into our CMS." Now you'll have a conversational AI wizard that will break things down into multiple validated steps. How could this help our customers streamline processes and get even more value from Tridion Sites? Often, the bottlenecks in content production are not so much within Tridion Sites as before that, when the content is created. Looking at how our customers work, we see that content creation often begins long before it's been moved into Tridion Sites. Authors typically start drafting and organizing their ideas using external tools and resources such as Word documents, PDFs, Excel sheets, even email threads. By the time the content is ready to be published, transferring it into Tridion Sites can become a tedious, manual process. Also, quite often authors who create content are external users, or new users who are not yet familiar with Tridion Sites. These are the areas where there is a real opportunity for Agentic AI to streamline workflows. Automating content creation from structured or semi-structured sources (e.g., text files, Word documents, Excel sheets), reducing manual input for authors. Enabling quick content creation for users with limited experience in Tridion Sites, lowering the barrier to entry. Exploring AI-driven classification, assessing whether an AI Agent can categorize content based on existing Tridion taxonomy. But how AI agents can connect to this content flow? Here is where the need for an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server becomes an essential part of architecture. MCP allows AI Agent to connect with external resources and systems, bringing all those scattered pieces into a unified context. While the AI can assist authors from the very beginning, suggesting edits, organizing drafts, the MCP server can help to integrate this content into Tridion Sites for further management and publishing. MCP server allows AI Agent to not only understand the context better but also take actions, for example MCP server can search for content, update and classify the content into Tridion Sites. We have done a POC of MCP server solution for Tridion Sites Content Manager. With the focus on the mentioned use cases, we have implemented several tools in this MCP server POC. Let me now show how I use AI Agent connected to these tools to create content in Tridion Sites. As my AI Agent I will be using GitHub Copilot, which I connected to Sites Content Manager MCP server. In general, any AI Agent can be used that supports MCP servers. As an experiment we also tried Claude Desktop. I will work with news articles content. Create news articles given the directory with several text files on my file system. Note the text in these files is not structured, just piece of text with the link to related image. I ask the following “Could you help me to create news articles in Tridion using the data from my Text directory?” GitHub Copilot process the data from my directory, structure the data to match it to “News Article” schema. The schema’s fields and then content import is done by calling Sites CM MCP server. Looking at the result, GitHub Copilot created set of news articles in Tridion Sites Content Manager, it also provides the links to each of them so I can open them in Experience Space for review. Now I want to create pages for these articles. I just ask “Create pages for these articles”. And here is the result. To group these pages for further actions with them, such as publishing or sending them to translation, I want to create a bundle and add these pages into it. The prompt is “Create a bundle and add pages to it”. Additionally, I would like to classify the created articles, the prompt I use is “Classify the created articles”. GitHub Copilot calls the Sites CM MCP tools, which provides the content of each article and the keywords from the “Content Classification” category to LLM, then LLM finds the most suitable keywords, and AI Agent calls back CM MCP updating the components with this classification. Here is what AI Agent created in Experience Space. The pages are grouped into a bundle. Each page contains the created news article component. As you can see with just few simple prompts that do not contain any specifics of how to do it in Tridion Sites Content Manager, I could quickly create several news articles from the given external data, linked multimedia components, create pages for them and bundle them together. The next step I can navigate to the bundle in Experience Space by clicking the link provided and publish these articles to the staging website for further review. Have you run into similar challenges bringing in an external content in this way? Do you have related use cases? Maybe you're thinking about other areas where automation and integration via MCP could help you get even more out of Tridion Sites. As we research this area, we look forward to hearing from you about feedback and more use cases where using a Sites Content Manager MCP server in your organization’s Agentic AI could improve and speed up content creation. Those are welcome improvements to Experience Space. I also appreciate you don't need a full upgrade to take advantage of these, right? Customers can just install/patch the changes without manual hotfix changes. Item count is back! Here, "table" refers to the main list views in the Experience Space interface (rather than the rich text format area table editor). And it's even improved with both visible and selected items. Historically, that was one of those features that unintentionally relied on browser capabilities. So the product lost features like clean copy and past and item count when browsers started restricting programatic access to the clipboard (for good reason) or dropped/removed access to the status bar (not sure why that happened, though), respectively.

Blog Post: Advanced Search, Favorites Management: What's New in Tridion Sites 10.1 Update 1?

We are thrilled to share the release of Tridion Sites 10.1.1, an update that brings new features and enhancements to the Experience Space user interface. This update builds on the foundation laid in Tridion Sites 10.1, delivering improvements that enhance usability and streamline content management workflows. In this blog post, we'll explore the key features introduced in this update. Advanced Search Main feature in this update is the new Advanced Search panel. This panel consolidates both basic and advanced search functionalities into a single, intuitive interface. Users can perform comprehensive searches across all content or limit their searches to item names or descriptions. The advanced search options, previously available only in the Classic UI's Content Manager Explorer, are now seamlessly integrated into Experience Space. Key Highlights: Unified Search Interface: Merges basic and advanced search into one panel, reducing clutter and additional clicks. Flexible Search Options: Search within a specific context (folder) with or without including sub-folders. Enhanced Filtering: Apply the same filter options as in Classic UI. Save and Reset: Save search queries and reset options to default values. Favorites Management With this update, users can now add and remove favorites directly within Experience Space. Previously, favorites management was limited to viewing existing favorites, but now users have full control over their favorites list. Key Highlights: Add Favorites: Select one or more items and add them to your favorites. Remove Favorites: Easily remove selected favorites from the toolbar or context menu. Additional UX Improvements This update also introduces several user experience enhancements that improve the overall functionality and usability of Experience Space. Component Links Target Option: Users can now choose whether a Component Link should open in the current window or a new window, aligning with the behavior in Classic UI. Table/List Views: Tables now display the number of visible and selected items, providing better insights into the content being managed. Rendering Time in Publishing Queue: The Publishing Queue's Resolved items panel now displays each item's rendering time, offering more detailed information about publishing transactions. If the item failed to render, the error reason is displayed instead. We hope you find these new features and improvements valuable. As always, we look forward to your feedback. Stay tuned for more updates!

Kudos and congrats on the release!

Blog Post: Tridion Sites 10.1.1 General Availability

I'm pleased to announce the General Availability of Tridion Sites 10.1! When considering your upgrade to Tridion Sites 10.x , I recommend seeing if it would be a good time to evaluate your content supply chain for opportunities for improvement. Some features that can help improve your process to generate, transform, and protect your content include the newer Experience Space user interface to improve daily editorial productivity and the integration features like External Content Libraries and Translation Management. Well integrated systems across your content supply chain can leverage existing capabilities across platforms, reduce copy & paste errors, and ultimately improve your customer's digital experiences. This post focuses on the Tridion connector for Salesforce Marketing Cloud as an example of combining the strengths of Tridion Sites and Salesforce Marketing Cloud to improve those experiences and better connect with your customers. Read on to see if an integration like this might be a good fit, with or separate from your next upgrade. The External Content Library feature allows you to give editors the ability to use "external" content sources such as Digital Asset Management systems, YouTube, online storage, and content from other systems within your Tridion Sites pages. This feature has even been improved with the Tridion Integration Framework , which allow the ability to interact with external content over the GraphQL-based Content Delivery API. In short, while editors can pick and choose in the Content Manager repositories, your programmers can query against external assets just like Tridion content over the same familiar Dynamic Experience Delivery API. But this doesn't have to be just content. The Salesforce Marketing Cloud connector takes advantage of such external data to let your editors create web forms for your website visitors to complete when interacting with your digital experiences. Here you can see the form fields users can use when creating a form for a webpage. Read more about the Tridion connector for Salesforce Marketing Cloud or check out the documentation . This integration provides capabilities such as: Web forms created by editors in the Content Manager Campaigns triggered against the data entered into such form The ability to personalize the web experience using CRM data Building the Salesforce Connector for Tridion Sites As a previous product owner for Tridion Sites integrations, I had a chance to better understand the two parts of earlier versions of the connector. The forms building aspect that surfaced Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) fields in the Tridion Sites interface which allowed editors to create custom forms to show on the website. The idea is to not just show one all-in-one form gathering as much possibly intrusive information from visitors and customers. Rather, you could ask for just what's needed like name and email, depending on the use case. Since that earliest version of the Connector, we've added support for interacting with CRM data over the Content Delivery API. One practical tip I can offer is using first name or a custom name field when addressing your customer. This is about reflecting back to your customer how they see, and in this case, call themselves. Credit to Peter Kjaer for pointing out that the concept of a first and last name (or surname) is popular among many, but not all, countries. I also strongly recommend building trust and complying with privacy laws by using the forms aspect of the connector by using the CRM data that's important for the customer's use case or job-to-be-done. That might be letting them describe what they're interested in, perhaps their language preferences, or some other aspect of their experience with you. By all means, if you'd just like to make a connection to offer follow-up information, ask for just an email. With some data collected, you can leverage Salesforce Marketing Cloud to trigger campaigns based on the data you've gathered. Also, with the CRM connected to your Website and Dynamic Experience Delivery (DXD), you can surface known information about the user in your digital experiences. This could be to promote content that match your visitor's interest, in their right language or otherwise personalized appropriately. Example use case You just bought that Big Expensive Thing you've researched. Of course you want more ads for the same item, right? Probably not! With the Salesforce Connector for Tridion Sites or a similar integration, you can improve the entire customer experience and move beyond the sale. You customers' journey might start at awareness to research followed by the potential purchase, using your products or services, getting support if needed, and ideally recommending you to encourage other prospects to consider you. While the customer is researching, you can use their search and product categories to recommend similar products. But after purchasing, you could then shift to the next steps in the customer journey. They already bought the thing, so content around accessories, support, and return or exchange information would be relevant rather than alternatives to "the thing." Or maybe a known customer is shopping again for something else. They're not looking to get support or make an exchange. Here it could be appropriate to solicit recommendations or perhaps offer a reward for referral purchases. Your helpful, yet trustworthy experience is important, especially when you're competing against your own products or services that might be available on other platforms, resellers, Amazon, or some aggregate site.
