Allow Scan Target File (Alignment) to detect updated/changed translation and to set status for those as "Translated and For Review"

Hi Community,

Can you please provide an option during Scan Target File (Alignment) to detect updated/changed translation, and set status for those strings as Translated and For Review"?

ICR/SME review doesn't always happen in TBU as desired. Instead, some clients would just make edits/changes to translation and drop the updated files for us to review. There is no simple way to identify the updated translation within Passolo after alignment.

In other words, I don't like the results of the current alignment - all strings are either 100% or validated, not mixed. I am sure there are pros and cons to implement this, but this option will eliminate manual work by engineers to change status for those changed to For Review. And it is so easy to change status of all strings to Validated if needed.

Thanks for considering!

  • The requested features are already available in the current version. I see different approaches:

In an ideal world the translation lists status in Passolo is 100% translated and validated. When you then start the alignment from files that were changed outside Passolo, use the following settings:

The alignment will change the entries changed by the client and will mark them as pre-transl. The message window is reporting the changed entries and the HTML report will show all changed entries in detail.

After opening all translation lists you can quickly filter the changed entries and validate or change them.

In an not so ideal world translation list entries may have various statuses. Translated and Validated, For Review, or Untranslated. After performing the alignment you need different and more steps to identify the changed entries, but it can be done very easily. After opening all translation lists activate the column Last change and sort all lists by this column.

The first entries then will contain the entries that were changed by the alignment you just performed.

Of course you can also use a filter to show the recently changed entries.

For more information about alignment you can look into the online help. In the AppStore you can find a 3rd party expert course on the Passolo alignment feature (AppStore Link).
