Planned for Future Release

Proper search function

The filter functionality offers the possibility to launch searches on projects. However, searching with the filter functionality is time-consuming, not really intuitive nor user-friendly. Moreover, once you are ready with your search, your need to reset your filter in order to bring the full list of projects back.

Also, if you want to search for e.g. a specific project group ID, you need to enter it twice since your filter expects that you enter a range. e.g. if I search for project group ID 2345, I need to enter from 2345 to 2345.

Even if the filter works well and offer the possibility to store complex search patterns, it is too complex and not adapted for quick or unique searches, such as e.g. a search on a project group ID.

Therefore, it would be great if a proper search function could be added, besides the filter function. The search functionality should just be one text field with one search button and the search scope should be all fields at the project group or project level. When the field is emptied, the full list of projects should be displayed again.

Parents
  • I would go so far as to suggest a complete re-examination and overhaul of the search and filter functions.

    Missing functionality:

    • Boolean options (and/or/not)
    • Simple query builder (like this)
    • Simple cross-attribute keyword search (kind of as requested above)
    • Sort-by options (that can be saved)

SDL support staff need these options, never mind customers.

Example: "How many active projects are at stage X, that were NOT done by X client? Let's sort them by date so we can prioritize..."
