Trados Enterprise - 24.02.1 Release

Trados Enterprise - 24.02.1 Release

We have just released the latest update to Trados Enterprise translation management capabilities, and we would like to share the new functionality that has been delivered.

New features and updates are automatically added to your account so just login to Trados Enterprise and they will be available immediately.

Project Archiving

We have introduced two new settings to determine when projects are automatically marked as complete and when those projects are subsequently archived, both of which are set to 90 days by default.

Certain functionality is restricted after a project has been archived. It is no longer possible to upload new translatable files or make changes to the workflow and/or assignment for an archived project. Project-based reports and files are still available, and some elements of the project can still be edited, such as the Project Notes.

Projects approaching their archive date are clearly indicated in the projects list, and the archive date is displayed for those projects as a tooltip and from the project side panel. We have introduced an "Archived" filter so users can easily specify whether archived projects are displayed from the main projects list.

Note: Existing projects that would be immediate candidates for archiving, based on the new default settings, will receive a grace period of 90 days before they are considered for archiving. These projects will then be archived in bulk outside of peak business hours to minimize overall load on the platform.

Vendor Assignment flexibility for Custom Workflow Templates

Prior to this release, vendor quotes for all tasks were generated during the Analysis phase in custom Workflow Templates, which implied vendors should be pre-assigned in the workflow and prevented changes to vendor assignment from being made during Project Planning. For default Workflow Templates, the ability to re-assign Vendors was released previously.

We are introducing several new options to determine when vendor quotes are generated, to allow greater flexibility when it is necessary to change vendor assignment during Project Planning in both custom and default Workflow Templates.

As custom Workflows can branch, not all files may reach a vendor, depending on the Workflow configuration and the route the files take. As such, we are giving Workflow builders options to decide how Quotes are generated to account for various use cases.

  • Final quote after batch is completed (Default): The vendor quote is generated immediately after the planning stage and is calculated on the assumption the entirety of the task will be handled by the assigned vendor. If any files do not go through the vendor assigned task, due to custom workflow logic or branching rules, the vendor quote will be updated to reflect this after the batch has been completed.
  • Wait for all files: Generate the vendor quote when all files have reached the vendor-assigned task. A wait duration can be configured so the quote is automatically calculated after the specified period. This is intended to help avoid delays if files are held at the previous task for an excessive time. The quote will be reflected when those late files are submitted but the updated quote will not be sent for vendor quote review.
  • Per file quote: A vendor quote is generated for every file as it reaches the vendor-assigned task. This option can result in a lot of quotes, depending on the number of files assigned to a vendor.

Workflow Editor improvements

We are introducing several new functions and visual improvements to the Workflow Editor, making it simpler for workflow administrators to work with task outcomes and transitions between tasks.

It is now possible to edit task outcomes as follows:

  • For custom outcomes, it is now possible to edit the name of a transition, change the target task resulting from a transition, or delete an outcome. This was previously only possible from the Workflow Task configuration rather than from the Worfklow Editor directly.
  • For default outcomes, it is possible to edit the target task resulting from a transition, but default outcomes cannot be deleted

In addition, custom outcomes are now displayed with a dashed line, so they are more easily distinguishable from default outcomes in the Workflow Editor.

Note: It is not possible to add custom outcomes from the Customer Quote Approval or Customer Review tasks.

Update Translation Engine in Project

It is now possible to update the translation engine for an existing project.

When updating the Translation Engine, a warning message is displayed if the newly selected Translation Engine has different Language Processing Rules defined to the original Translation Engine.

A new permission has been introduced, governing access to this feature, which is included for the Administrator, Project Manager and Lead Project Manager default roles. The permission should be granted manually to any Custom Roles where this functionality is needed.

Note: If the Translation Engine is changed after the Analysis phase, the new Translation Engine will only take effect for subsequent batches. Where this option may be needed, we recommend including a human workflow task prior to Analysis, so users have the option to switch to a different Translation Engine before the first batch of files is processed.

Force Customer deletion functionality

When deleting a customer, we present a dialogue box to inform users if there are any associated resources that will be deleted due to their actions. In this scenario, there is an additional validation check that requires the user to type the name of the customer before they can proceed with their actions.

Customer Portal updates

An alternative interface is now available for Customer Portal, offering a simpler view for users who do not want to see a full breakdown of the word count analysis for every project. Existing users will continue to see the standard interface immediately following this release, but the new interface can be configured for individual users as required, by ensuring they are part of a Custom Role that has not been granted the corresponding permission.

In addition, user avatars and profile pictures are now displayed from the All Projects and Files for Review pages, which completes the integration of this feature in Customer Portal.

Online Editor updates

We have delivered further accessibility improvements for the Online Editor in this latest release.

  • A new High-contrast theme is now available for Online Editor
  • The Text Zoom feature has been extended to include content displayed from the side panel

In addition, we have updated the icons in Online Editor to convey a more modern look-and-feel, and a simplified ribbon display option is also available.

Finally in Online Editor, a new filter option can be selected to display Repetitions.

TM Maintenance updates

It is now possible to add individual Translation Units directly when using the TM Maintenance Editor. This is helpful in cases where you know edits have been made to a translation after the fact and you want to ensure those changes make it into the TM.

When working with filters from the TM Maintenance Editor, it is now possible to include system fields that are based on username. As an example, this allows you to create a filter to include all segments created by a specific user.

The side panel can now be detached from the TM Maintenance Editor, providing users with greater display flexibility when working with multi-screen setups.

Additional changes

  • We have introduced a new "Completed" status for vendor orders which applies when all the files which are part of a vendor task are completed or assigned away from a vendor. If a project consists of multiple file batches, the initial batch assigned to a vendor is completed, but the rest of the batches assigned to the same vendor are not completed, then the status of the vendor quote for that project will revert from "Completed" to "In Progress".
  • We now retain task assignments where individual target languages are excluded from a workflow, meaning that if those target languages are reinstated for a task, the original assignments values are restored. This functionality will be extended to source language-based tasks and global task assignments in a future update.
  • Project Groups can now include up to 500 Projects.
  • Picklist options are sorted alphabetically in Custom Fields
  • A new permission has been introduced making it possible for users to update the Quote Template associated with a Project Template without having full edit permissions for Project Templates in general.
  • Various bug fixes and UX enhancements.

We hope this post was informative and we look forward to continuing to provide you with updates to the product.
