Trados Enterprise Release - Project Conversations

Trados Enterprise Release - Project Conversations

We are excited to announce the general availability of a significant new collaboration feature to help facilitate seamless communication within the Trados platform. With this new feature, project-level communication between cross-functional project stakeholders is vastly improved. This innovation facilitates interaction between users allowing them to exchange messages within the context of specific projects.

The Project Conversations feature is available automatically to all Trados Enterprise customers. At a user level, access to the feature is governed by the Projects > View permission. In accordance with the default roles included in Trados Enterprise, this provides access to project managers working in the Trados Enterprise interface and customer requesters via Customer Portal. In a future update, the feature will be made more widely accessible to other types of roles, including linguists and customer reviewers.

The initial functionalities available for Project Conversations include the automatic creation of subscriber lists for each project, so when new comments are added to projects of interest, we notify the relevant parties. The following criteria is considered when determining which users are included in the subscriber list for a project:

  • Project creator
  • Project manager(s) where configured in the Project Template
  • Planned assignees/assignees for the Customer Quote Approval task
  • Planned assignees/assignees for the Project Planning task
  • Any user(s) that adds a comment to a project conversation will be included in the subscriber list

Once a project is created, and a conversation has been started for that project, any subsequent comments trigger notifications sent to the subscriber list, both within the Trados Enterprise and Customer Portal interfaces and via email.

When adding a comment in Trados Enterprise, users can specify whether that comment should be visible in Customer Portal, or only to users that have access to the Trados Enterprise interface.

To keep users informed, we provide visual indicators for projects with existing or unread comments. We routinely check for new project comments, identify those of interest to specific users, and consolidate them into a single email notification at hourly intervals.

We hope this post was informative and we look forward to continuing to provide you with updates to the product.

  • Hi  ,

Another feedback that came up today: when a user leaves a message in a project that is deleted right after the message was posted, nobody gets a notification by the system (nothing on the TE/CP interfaces nor by email). I think the system should send the notification by email right away or the system shouldn't delete the project too quickly, and keep it for a while in the background, to make sure that there was no new messages in the Conversations tab.
