Providing Support for OpenExchange Apps you guys develop!

Hi,

As you can all see we finally went live with the upgraded community pages and they are also available across all of SDL... so this is great!  This gives you, as developers, a neat opportunity to use these communities for providing support to users of your applications.  You don't have to of course, but there are obvious benefits.

  1. You won't have to keep answering the same question over and over again!
  2. You might find another user will answer your questions for you.
  3. More people will be exposed to the capabilities of your apps as they see the questions form other users.
  4. You can collect ideas for enhancements and see whether they are useful for more than one user or not (just based on comments in the threads)
  5. You can notify users of updates by posting into the community and anyone with their notifications switched on will receive the update.

They are the most useful things I think!  So we have also created a url especially for app support : https://community.sdl.com/appsupport  I'd like to drop sdk-feedback for users soon, at least for all the reasons I mentioned above.  We will hopefully change the app records so we can use a web address like this because at the moment we can only put in an email address.  Once we make that change sdk-feedback is history!  The only use it will have "for now" is for you guys to email links to your plugins for signing.

An even better idea, as introduced by Romulus Crisan, is to create a link on your own website if you have one that allows the user to posts a question immediately and also gives functionality to drag and drop as a booklet in their browser toolbar for future reference... take a look at this to see what I mean where he has created an example you can use to post into this group.  The code for this is straightforward for you guys:

<a href="javascript:location.href='https://community.sdl.com/products-solutions/language/translationproductivity/f/160/p/addpost'">If you have any questions about my applications please post them here into the OpenExchange User Community.</a>

Feel free to take advantage of this facility.  I think it'll help to build more of a community around our products and applications that will be good for everyone!
