The Trados Certification program enables individual translators and project managers to validate their knowledge and expertise in the use of Trados products. Achieving Trados Certification demonstrates that you are fully prepared to work with the world’s leading translation technology. 

What are the certification levels available for Trados Studio?

 There are three levels for Trados Studio 2024: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3

Each level includes:

• A workbook/manual
• Sample files
• Online exams (with 3 attempts per level)

For existing Studio 2022 Certified users, a Trados Studio 2024 New Features exam is available free of charge with the upgrade to Studio 2024. Passing this exam upgrades their Studio 2022 certificate to the equivalent Studio 2024 certification level, demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of the latest features and enhancements.

 How much do the certifications cost?

 This depends on the level:

• Level 1: Often available for free with purchase of Trados Studio or via academic/student programs.
• Levels 2 and 3: Must be purchased separately.
• Each certification costs €49 individually.
• A certification bundle for Levels 1, 2 and 3 is available for 99€.
• Certification exams can be purchased via https://www.trados.com/training/certification/.

 Is a Trados Studio license required to take the certification?

 No, a full license is not required.

• For perpetual licenses (Corporate, LSPs, Public Services), a free 1-month trial license can be used to complete the training and certification.
• Freelancers can try Trados Studio Freelance risk-free for 14 days with a flexible subscription plan. After the trial , they can either cancel or proceed with the purchase, upon which the Studio Level 1 eLearning and Certification will be made available for free.

 How do users access the certification materials and exams?

 After purchase or registration, users receive:

• Access via the RWS University learning portal
• An invitation email with login instructions (check your spam folder for emails from learn@rws.com)
• Once registered, training materials and certification will appear in your Dashboard.

 How long does it take to complete each level?

 Each exam has a time limit:

• Level 1: 40 questions – 40 minutes.
• Level 2: 45 questions – 45 minutes.
• Level 3: 50 questions – 50 minutes.

 When is the certification issued after completing the exam?

 Attendees are advised immediately on completion of the exam whether they have passed or need to retake it. On successful completion, they can download a Trados Studio Certified User badge and a PDF certificate.

 Are there discounts for students or certified users?

 Student discounts are available via the Academic Partner Program. Existing Studio 2022 Certified users can take the  Trados Studio 2024 New Features exam for free with a licence upgrade, which upgrades their certification level accordingly.

 Which languages are available for taking the exam?

 Certification exams for all levels are currently available in English, French and German. Trados Studio 2024 Level 1 is also available in Japanese. Stay tuned for an update on additional levels for this language.
