If the students were able to fine tune their own models then there wouldn't be any problems related to sharing of resources. One problem we came across was that when working on virtual machines the new processors actually stopped OPUS-CAT from running so it's worth checking this first.
Another thing to consider is if different students are trying to fine tune their models at the same time then there might be a stacking issue. But if it is only for querying the MT then you only need one.
You may also want to consider that you may have different data from different users and you want to keep this separate.
