Deciding on which Projects?

Fiona asked:

You have a criteria that this should be a humanitarian initiative, but otherwise how do you decide what to do? There must be so many niche, and different requirements all around the world, fighting for some help and some exposure, so how do you decide and how do you even find these things?

  • I have transcribed the response from the presentation by Jennifer Cajina-Grigsby:

"When we find these things we quickly reach out to organisations to see if they need any help with translation, but it really depends on the capacity that we have and the funding that we have, and on the people that reach out to us. Sometimes we get asked for help with bureaucratic translations where we don't really want to do that since we want to work on projects that create direct impact, and can provide direct information to those who are affected by it. It really depends and we do it on a case by case basis. We also have differing presence in different regions of the world... so we have an office in Kenya, an office in Nigeria, an office in Bangladesh. We have the office in Bangladesh as a result of the huge refugee crisis happening there, and still happening there now. So it depends on who reaches out to us and the impact our involvement would have on the local communities."
