Language Weaver dictionary or termbase?

 asked:

Just to make sure... You showed earlier you could add a Dictionary... is this an alternative name for a Termbase, or is it a slightly different idea?

  • Hi! The dictionary functionality is a similar idea to a termbase but it functions differently. Dictionaries are bilingual word lists that are created within Language Weaver itself (or imported there). When the dictionary is applied alongside the Language Weaver model, Language Weaver will find and replace all of the terms in the dictionary that it finds in the source. This is slightly different behavior than what you would have when using a termbase in Studio as the termbase typically suggests terms or points out source terms that have matching termbase hits. Language Weaver will automatically replace the translations in the output with what you have defined in the dictionary without further intervention from the translator/post-editor. I hope this helps.
