I just saw your question when browsing through the forum. If you open up the help for the integration API and navigate to:

SDL Trados Studio Integration API > User Interface Integration > Samples > Integrating viewparts

Scroll down to the bottom for the topic "Integrating view parts inside an existing SDL Trados Studio view" where you'll see how to integrate a view part in to the Projects Controller. If you switch ProjectsController for EditorController then this is essentially what you're looking to do.

Hi David - yes, thanks; we did something along those lines, having initially been looking for the documentation for ViewPartAttribute, ViewPartLayoutAttribute and other elements in the earlier ViewPart integration examples, which doesn't appear to be there ... To be fair, the API Introduction page does describe it as 'preliminary documentation' ...
