One option would be to call a .Net function from xslt. You can find some details on how that can be done here. You can then create a function in .NET that will return the studio project path. You can find an example here.

thank you for the answer! I tried the sample script from the first link, but I got an error in studio:

"Execution of scripts was prohibited. Use the XsltSettings.EnableScript property to enable it"

Also, on the second link you propose the following c# code:

       var folderPath = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.System);

var sdlProjectPath = Path.Combine(folderPath,"Studio 2014\\Projects");

return sdlProjectPath;

Does this really return the path of the CURRENT project? It seems to project to the system32\studio2014\Projects folder.

You can enable scripts by setting EnableScripts to true. More details here. Another option would be to use extension object.  I'm assuming that you are doing the xslt transformation from .Net.

I've updated the second script example since i had a small mistake there. Also there is no way to get the current project from .Net so you would need to pass this info from xlst and I've also added a parameter to the example function.

Initially I misunderstood what Tamas was looking for since I was assuming that he is building a custom file type where he would have control over the xml transformation. He was actually using the existing file type and just added a custom xslt for preview. In this case there is no way to execute .net code from xslt since document scripting is disabled.

This can be achieved only by creating a custom file type.
