We are planing to develop a batch task API and I would like to discuss what features would you like the API to provide.

Hello Romulus,
that is good news. Here my first Brainstorming : )
I would like to get a possibility
- to insert the custom batch-tasks in Studio,
- to be able to perform them alone or in sequences.
- to start such custom Batch Tasks through the project API
- to save eventual settings in the sdlproj file.
- to use templates with custom batch tasks
- to start programs which perform actions (read, write, add, replace,...) on the files in the project: source files (pre-processing), sdlxliff (QS), cleaned up files (post-processing), reference files
- to start programs which are independant from Studio
- to restart certain batch tasks for example the Analyse after a source file has been corrected or added.

Looking forward to this. Now I'll do some wild brainstorming:

Post Finalization or Target File Generation copy certain files to predefined folders

Batch export TMs as a backup

Define a special subset of QA checks and run them as a batch task

Spellcheck project: i.e. open all files and run spellchecker and create report.

But I'm not too sure if this is the answer you are really expecting.

I'd like to add some too:

predefine source file location and include this in a batch task for creating projects

support the addition of your own tasks, whatever they are, and make available through the batch task menu

my 2 cents:
- being able to perform some operations on sdlxliff files like changing some TU metadata or loookup for specific words and adding informations on tu
- being able to declare if my custom task can work in cooperation with other tasks (like pretranslate -> analyze) or if they require some other task/condition to be performed/fulfilled before being used
- being able to export analyze data or other kind of information via xml file or even better: make a http request/soap-rest call
- being able to write a report so that Trados can see it between other project reports.
