You do not have sufficient rights to create objects of this type?

Question

Hi, 
 I am having a 2016 KC Content Manager. I am able to create a folder inside the repository. But when I try to create a topic or a map I get an error message that 
 "You do not have sufficient rights to create objects of this type ( initial states are not defined) ?

any hint on where to check

Hi Ram, 
 It seems your user account has insufficient rights. 
 Can you please check you user account 
 
 look at the users roles that are assigned to your account. 
 Next can you also check which initial statuses are associated with these user roles ( look in the doc here ). The initial status indicates whether you can created objects in a particular status or not.

I found the real reason for the error. 
 
If the error persist even after following the frank solution in the thread then you have to look into the XML status setting file. 
 
If the XML status setting file contain invalid datatype or version mismatch error then fixing will allow you to create new objects.
